Chapter 90 Out Of Your Mind
Chris heard some noise coming from the living room–looked like Lila still hadn’t left.
After thinking it over for a second, Chris headed downstairs. When he saw Eleanor talking with Lila, he stopped in his tracks, like something finally clicked. The way he looked at Eleanor was full of disgust.
Lila said softly, “Eleanor, you really don’t have to thank me. It’s just what I should do.”
After seeing Lila out, Eleanor turned around and spotted Chris standing not far av staring right at her. “When did you even meet Lila? And since when are you two so chummy?”
Eleanor just shot Chris a cold, mocking smile, clearly not planning to answer.
As she walked past him, Chris suddenly grabbed her. “Are you teaming up with Lila to mess with Serena on purpose?” “Chris, what’s with all this grabbing? Aren’t you worried Serena might see and get her feelings hurt again?” said Eleanor
“Answer me.”
“Why should I?” Eleanor snapped, kicking Chris hard in the stomach and twisting out of his grip. “You already think you know the answer, so why bother asking me?”
“Eleanor,” Chris suddenly shouted, his voice echoing. “I used to think Serena was the one going after you, but turns out, you re still the same as ever.”
“Chris, you better watch your tone,” Eleanor said coldly. “Or did I go too easy on you last time, and now you’re back to acting like this again?”
“You married Tyler just to get back at me. If he knew your real reason, what would he think of you? You know Serena’s insecure, but you still teamed up with Lila to bait her, making everyone think she’s out to get you.”
Eleanor finally lost her patience and slapped Chris hard across the face. “You stand there, twisting things and trash–talking people–don’t you think you deserve that?”
Chris clutched his cheek, staring at her in disbelief. “You’re impossible.”
Eleanor sneered, “You started this, so why should I be nice? Let me make it clear: I never plotted anything with Lila. She’s just smart and kind–she’s not so easily manipulated.
“Oh, and by the way, Lila never actually recorded anything. She just bluffed, and Serena confessed all on her own. Pretty funny, isn’t it?”
Chris’s hands balled into fists as he remembered the messages he’d seen earlier. Almost as if trying to convince himself, he muttered, “Serena would never just accuse someone for no reason.”
“Right, she’s pure. She’s kind. She’s timid but oh–so resilient,” Eleanor said with a cold laugh. “She’d never hurt anyone. It’s always everyone else hurting her, isn’t it?”
“Eleanor, I know you hate me, but whatever was between us is over. Stop holding on to something that’s not there.” Chris stared at her. “You never used to be like this. When did you get so impossible to talk to?”
“Are you serious right now?” Eleanor shot back, clearly annoyed. “Who do you think you are, the last man on earth? What makes you so amazing?
“News to me. You’re so full of yourself. Did you ever even try to understand me? I’ve always been ‘impossible to talk to.‘ I just pretended to be nice for your sake, that’s all.”
“So you finally admit it,” Chris said. “Eleanor, you really have been picking on Serena all along. I almost let you fool me again.”
Eleanor laughed. “Chris, are you just regretting things now but can’t bring yourself to admit you were wrong, so you’re making excuses? And watch how you talk to me. Tyler’s not the type to just stand by.”
Chris watched her walk away, his expression unreadable. He pulled out his phone and deleted all the photos he’d just taken.

Eleanor went back to her room and heard Tyler’s voice. “Did they leave?”
“Yeah,” she replied.
“Who got you all riled up?” Tyler looked at her, noticing how upset she was.
“I’m just mad at myself. How did I ever have such terrible taste?”
Tyler’s face darkened. He didn’t say a word, jus Successfully unlocked!
“Even with all the evidence right in front of him, he sun thinks in setting mn up with someone else. He’s seriously got issues. No wonder Vera used to say I was a fool–honestly, looking back, I really was,” said Eleanor.
After Eleanor finished, she felt the mood get a little heavy. She glanced at Tyler and saw he looked serious. “What’s up with you?”

Chapter 90 Out Of Your Mind
Tyler was quiet for a moment. “It’s still kind of awkward, both of us living here. When are you planning to come back to our place?”
Hearing “our place” made Eleanor’s heart feel warm. “Didn’t you say it’d be awkward with just the two of us? Plus, we’re here to keep Martha company. Or are you just eager to go back because we got interrupted last time?”
Meeting Eleanor’s playful gaze, Tyler’s heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t tell if she was really clueless or just pretending. Honestly, he was worried Chris would regret everything once he finally learned the truth.
“You and Chris only split up because of a misunderstanding,” Tyler said. “If one da Chris admits he was wrong, what would you do?”
Eleanor didn’t even hesitate. “When something breaks in a relationship, it never goes back to how it was. Even if you try to patch it up, the cracks are still there–and so is the damage.”
After she said that, something seemed to click for Eleanor. She looked at Tyler. “Wait, are you misunderstanding something?” Tyler avoided her eyes, looking a little uneasy. “Chris’s reaction today was unsettling.”
“With the way he thinks, Serena will always have him wrapped around her finger.” Eleanor let out a cold laugh. “I don’t even know why he came back to the living room, saw me talking to Lila, and just assumed we were plotting against Serena.
“He even thought I did it for him. I honestly had no idea what was going on. Thank God for Angust.”
At the mention of Angust, Tyler’s expression darkened. But he caught something in Eleanor’s words. “Wait, are you saying Chris came to you again?”
Eleanor nodded. “Yeah. But don’t get the wrong idea–nothing happened between us.”
“He suspects you?”
“Yeah.” Eleanor gave a cold smile. “He only believes what he wants to see, and what he wants to believe.”
Tyler said in a low voice, “I’ve already got someone tracking down that superfan. We should have some answers soon.”
Eleanor shook her head and said softly, “Even if we find the truth, it won’t matter. Some people only believe what they want to believe.
“If it doesn’t fit their story, it’s not real to them. I’m used to it. As long as I know I did nothing wrong, I don’t care what anyone else thinks.”
“Even so, we can’t just let people get away with doing bad things,” Tyler replied. “Looks like I gave Chris too much credit.” Eleanor let out a laugh. “He’s so hung up on his pride. He’ll twist anything just to save face.
“Tyler, you know him best. You don’t have to worry about me getting back with him. Even if he suddenly changes, love that comes too late isn’t worth a dime.”
Tyler’s deep gaze lingered on Eleanor. “Then tell me–how do you really feel about me?”
