Wer body couldn’t keep up
When Naomi thought about the important enrollment documents and passport in her bag, cold sweat slowly began to bead at her temples, and her breathing became increasingly rapid.
She tried to accelerate her pace, but unexpectedly, she stumbled and fell to the ground.
“Naomil” Shane’s worried shout rang from behind.
Naomi only felt a sharp pain in her ankle, and her face furned pale from the pain.
My ankle must have been sprained.
As she saw the man’s figure getting smaller and smaller, about to escape, Naomi quickly had an idea. She grabbed astone from the roadside and threw it hard in the man’s direction!
“Ah-
With the sound of the stone hitting, the robber finally fell to the ground.
“Quick! Hold him down!” Naomi, not caring about her injury, hurriedly shouted for Shane to help tie the robber’s hands behind his back.
“Call the police!” Naomi snatched her bag back from the man’s hand, feeling a lingering fear.
She checked and found that her important documents were still inside, letting out a sigh of relief.
Luckily, I reacted quickly; otherwise, just replacing the documents abroad would have caused me a lot of headaches.
Shane took several deep breaths and wiped the sweat from his face.
Then he looked at the seemingly ordinary girl in front of him with even more astonishment and admiration.
I had previously thought that she was exceptionally knowledgeable, but I didn’t know that her quick–thinking ability was so strong, even better than that of me, a grown man.
The bag had been recovered in time, and the follow–up was handled smoothly.
After leaving the police station, Shane hesitated several times but finally asked the question that had been on his mind.
“Ms. Judd, I truly admire your quick response and exceptional physical strength, which is completely unlike what a girl your age could have. Where did you learn that?”
“Hmm…
Naomi initially wanted to say that it was learned from her past life, when she had been in prison and had been bullied there.
But after some hesitation, she remembered that the prison was part of her past life, and all she could do

In prison, the inmates formed their own small groups and had a hierarchical system. One careless mistake could carity lead to being excluded and beaten up.
Only I knew home much I suffered in prison in my past life. That’s why, when I arrived here, I wasn’t afraid of the foreign robbers and dared to chase after them immediately.
Shane saw that Naomi didn’t respond and was about to ask again, but after seeing the growing darkness in her eyes, he decided not to ask further and wisely changed the subject. “Ms. Judd, wasn’t your ankle sprained just now?”
When Shane asked, Naomi snapped back to reality and felt the pain in her ankle intensifying. She lifted her pant leg and found that it was already red and swollen, as big as a bun.
Shane furrowed his brows. “How did it swell up like this and you didn’t say anything… Let me take you home and help you bandage it!”
“No need. Naomi initially wanted to say that she could bandage it herself, but her words were coldly by Shane.

“Don’t say that you can handle it on your own. You’re injured. What if you run into another robber on your way back?”
Seeing the cold, stern expression on Shane’s face, Naomi could only smile faintly and agree.
“Alright, then thank you, Mr. Shane.”
“Where do you live?” Shane asked.
“Ravien Garden. Naomi replied.
Shane raised an eyebrow in slight surprise because his apartment was also in Ravien Garden.
Ravien Garden was a high–end residential area with high land prices, and it was very close to Woodcreek. Academy. People living there were either rich or influential.
Shane lived there because he was a professor at the school, while Naomi lived there because she had saved up enough capital after leaving the Jiang family.
“What? You live just upstairs from me?” Naomi looked a Shane’s face, speaking slowly, word by word.
“Yeah, I was just thinking how strange fate is. We not only share the same school and the same major but even live in the same building
Shane looked at Naomi’s face with a mysterious smile. Now, I could openly take care of this girl
Naomi had no idea what Shane was up to. Her brows furrowed tighter, and her gaze deepened.
“Ms. Judd, from now on, we can look out for each other Shane said, his eyes sparkling. “It’s inconvenient for you to be alone. Let me help you with your ankle, okay?”
Naomi didn’t speak, but tacitly agreed.
Rolling up her pant leg. Shane saw Naomi’s severely swollen ankle and furrowed his brows even tighter, feeling a twinge of pain in his heart.

He took the bandages and medicine from the first aid kit and carefully began to wrap her ankle.
Fluched
His long fingers gently held Naomi’s foot, as if cradling fragile treasure, afraid that one wrong move might hurt her.
“It’ll hurt a little; hear with it,” he softly reminded her before applying the medicine, his eyes full of concern and tenderness.
The cold medicine was applied to the burning wound, and a sharp, stinging pain shot through her, but Naomi gritted her teeth and didn’t make a sound.
Looking at the man kneeling in front of her, applying medicine to her, Naomi was momentarily stunned.
I had lived two lives, knowing that everything depended on myself. No one had ever cared for me like this, and this feeling involuntarily reminded me of my mother.
As soon as she thought of her mother’s gentle smile, fears welled up in her eyes. Shane saw her crying and, thinking it was because he had hurt her, hurriedly became flustered.
“I’m sorry, I’m so clumsy… I’ll go get you a cup of hot water?”
Shane anxiously got up to fetch water but, in his flurry, bumped into the table edge and nearly fell over. Naomi saw this and couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.
“It’s not your fault. I just thought of my mom,” she said softly, her gaze dimming.
Hearing this, Shane knelt down again, raising his eyes to look at her.
In his deep, starry eyes, her slightly reddened cheeks were clearly reflected.
“It’s okay, I’ll take care of you from now on.”
The atmosphere in the room grew increasingly ambiguous. Naomi Judd, without realizing it, found herself staring at Shane, his chiseled face and thin lips seeming to imprint themselves deeply in her mind.
Suddenly, she realized something was wrong.
What was I doing?! I had brought a man I had just met into my home, staring at each other in such an ambiguous atmosphere!
No, I had to say something to break the awkwardness!
“Um… Mr. Shane, you mentioned at the airport that you’ve seen me before. Where was that?”
