Hearing Lucie finally drop her pretense, Jeremy trembled with rage. “So, you’re done pretending now! You really think my father will keep you here forever? Dream on!”
Lucie’s voice turned cold as she cut him off. “Pretending? No one plays the game better than you, Judd family people. Heartless creatures… My daughter, a perfectly good girl, was thrown into prison because of you! You tell me to leave? Fine. Then give me back my daughter!”
At the mention of Sarah, Jeremy faltered.

Every day, she dolled herself up, dressing far too extravagantly for a nanny. And whenever there was a task that required close proximity to Flynn, she snatched it up without hesitation, finding every opportunity to be by his side.
The other workers in the Judd Mansion loathed her, but there was nothing they could do. They could only whisper behind her back. Yet Lucie remained unfazed. She could not care less what they thought.
“Talia, you don’t need to clean Mr. Flynn’s bathroom tonight. I’ll do it.”
Just as expected, that evening, Lucie intercepted the young maid who was carrying the cleaning supplies and eagerly took over the chore
Everyone knew exactly what she was up to, but Talia was more than happy to pass the work along.
Lucie knew that soon, Mr. Flynn would be passing through on his way to bathe.
As she ran the warm water, she kept her ears trained on the hallway, listening intently for approaching footsteps.

Guilt stirred within Flynn. But the deed was done. He could not just turn his back on it now.
“Don’t worry,” he said at last.
Hearing those three words, Lucie slowly turned around, tears glistening in her eyes. “No…. I can’t stay. I’ve already disturbed the Judd family for too long. Tomorrow, I’ll pack my things and leave. You’ll never see me again.”
At her words, Flynn felt his mind spin. A deep panic setan. “You… don’t go,” he blurted out.
Lucie gazed at him, waiting for more, her eyes flickering with calculation.
