Chapter 9 What a Joke
“Dad, I’m back this time to cut ties with the Judd family Naomi enunciated every word, her tone unwavering and firm.
The moment those words landed, not just Nolan but even Flynn’s heart jolted.
What?
Had Naomi completely lost her mind? She actually dared to say she wanted to cut ties with the Judd family?

Flynn’s eyes turned sharp as he was the first to react. “Naomi, you’ve been maliciously contacting the Judd family’s investors these past few days to get them to pull out. I thought you came home today to apologize. I didn’t think you’d be this arrogant.”
Nolan chimed in immediately. “Exactly! Naomi, you’re the one behind what happened with my company’s Creative Team, aren’t you? Apologize to me now, and maybe I’ll let it go. Otherwise, don’t, blame me for suing you and making you pay for the damage!”
Staring at these disgusting faces, Naomi felt a wave of nausea rise in her chest. She repeated herself slowly. and clearly. “I said, I’m here today to sever all ties with the Judd family. These past years, I’ve held Judd Group together, and instead of being grateful, you all treated my kindness as an excuse to trample over me. Dad, for me to still call you Dad‘ after everything I’ve already gone above and beyond in the name of filial piety.”
“If you understand what I’m saying, you’d better go ahead and call the rest of the family now.”
Jeremy quickly agreed, “Yeah, Dad, we should contact Foster, Harvey, and Logan right away.”
Flynn’s face was grim as he waved a hand. The servants immediately rushed off to contact the remaining
sons.
Not long after, Naomi’s brothers–Foster, Harvey, and Logan–hurried back to the Judd family estate.
As soon as they heard Naomi wanted to cut ties, their expressions went from skeptical, to shocked, to, downright dismissive.
Harvey reacted the strongest. “Naomi, are you done with the drama yet? Because of you, Sarah got detained and is still MIA. I thought you were back to apologize! If you go bail her out now and give her some compensation, maybe we’d still be willing to tolerate you in the Judd family!”
Naomi sneered. “Sarah brought that on herself. As for me, I’m done with all of you. These past few days should’ve made that clear. And if you still don’t get it, I just make the rest of the investors pull out too. Let’s see how long the Judd family can survive then.”
Jeremy stepped in at the right moment and said to Flynn, “Dad, she’s already made her position clear. There’s no point in dragging this out. Just let her go.”
Nolan immediately objected. “No way! Dad, Naomi stirred up trouble in the house these past few days, got Sarah in trouble, and even planted bugs in the Creative Team’s code to sabotage me! If I hadn’t been sharp enough, my game company would’ve gone under!”
“If we let Naomi just walk away like this, how are we supposed to settle the score?”

Even the youngest, Foster, acted like Naomi was his mortal enemy. “She has to pay before she leaves! Naomi, the Judd family isn’t a place you can come and go from as you please!”
Flynn’s face was dark as he finally addressed Naomi. “Naomi, do you think the Judd family is some kind of revolving door? You come and go as you like, throw a tantrum and storm out? Forget compensation- don’t you plan on repaying the family for raising you all these years?”
Naomi nearly laughed when she heard the words “raising me.” If Flynn truly cared about raising her, how could he have forced her to take the fall for Sarah in her last life? How could he have let her die alone in prison?
Since they had no conscience, she saw no reason to show mercy.
Naomi smirked. “Repaying you? Dad, you know very well how you treated Sarah and how you treated me.”
“I understand that Sarah’s mother once helped you. What, do you want me to repay that debt with my life?”
Flynn was momentarily speechless. After a pause, he forced himself to say, “No matter what you say, the damage you’ve done can’t be undone. If you don’t hand over the compensation today, don’t even think about walking out that door!”
So he wanted to burn the bridge completely.
What a joke. Naomi had never been afraid of anyone.
She laughed coldly. “Dad, after all these years, the Judd family’s got skeletons in every closet. I could spill any one of them and the whole family would be disgraced. If you really care about the Judd family’s reputation, then cut ties with me and let me walk away!
“If not, I’ll post every last secret you’ve got online.”
“You-!” Flynn exploded in rage and swung his hand toward her face, but Naomi was quick. She dodged and caught his wrist, sending him stumbling backward a few steps.
“Dad, instead of trying to hit me, maybe focus on how you’re going to handle the public fallout.”
“Let’s see… Logan’s solicitation charges, Foster’s company fraud, Logan hiring ghostwriters to compose his music, and you… hmm, let me think-”
Before she could finish, her brothers all panicked.
Jeremy jumped in first. “Dad, let’s just forget about the compensation and let this troublemaker leave already!”
Nolan quickly followed. “Dad, she’s got dirt on all of us. We can’t afford to fight her. We should just agree to her terms!“,
“Yeah, let her go, Dad!”
“Enough!” Flynn’s roar cut through the noise in the room.
“Fine, Naomi! Have it your way. From this moment on you have nothing to do with the Judd family!”
Hearing Flynn finally agree to sever ties, Naomi felt a weight lift off her chest–until he threw one last

“Now that we’re cutting ties, don’t ever think about setting foot in this house again. And forget about any shares or inheritance. None of it will ever be yours.”
Harvey chimed in, “That’s right! Don’t even think about changing your mind later and coming back to claim a slice of the family assets!”
Even Logan jumped in and spat viciously at her, “Naomi, you’ll pay for your arrogance! I was willing to toss you a few coins out of family loyalty, but now you won’t get a single cent!”
Looking at their smug, arrogant faces, Naomi felt nothing but disgust.
And the thought that she would never again be tied to these people filled her with unshakable joy.
She swept her gaze across the room, the corner of her lips curled into a faint smirk. “I never once wanted a cut of the family assets. Inheritance never even crossed my mind. I can build something just as good as the Judd family all on my own–with my own hands and my own talent.”
“As for you all, without my help, you’d better start worrying about your own futures.”
Her smile was laced with contempt as her eyes swept past each of them one by one.
They froze for a second–then burst out laughing as if they’d just heard the funniest joke in the world.
