Chapter 11 They’re Beaten
As soon as I finished speaking, Paul and the others‘ faces completely changed.
“What did you say?” Paul asked, clearly stunned.
Sarah quickly added, “Monica, don’t joke about something like that!”
I looked at them coldly and said flatly, “Now that my child is gone and Paul is dead, I have nothing to do with the Rodgers family anymore. I’m not going back with you. Please leave, and don’t come back.”
With that, I called security to escort them out.
Paul’s face darkened. His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at me, his face twisted with
anger.
“Are you insane? You’re kicking us out? I agreed to merge the families, what more do you want? Fine, you can play your little power games, but there’s a limit. If you turn me away now, I won’t come back. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.“.
Sarah awkwardly smiled. “I see you’ve put on some weight. How could you have lost the ba- by? You must be joking. Are you still angry about what happened before?”
She continued, “Are you lying to us in a fit of spite? Monica, I have to say, you’re being too childish. You keep hurting all of us.”
I didn’t respond. Instead, I threw the abortion report at them and signaled the bodyguards to
escort them out.
I heard that after they were thrown out, they looked at the report and realized I had indeed terminated the Rodgers family’s only heir. They were furious, so much so that they forgot they still depended on Graham for support.
They began shouting and cursing, calling me shameless and blaming me for killing the Rodgers family’s bloodline.

They cursed me, saying I’d get what was coming to me. That was when the men waiting out- side realized who they were–members of the Rodgers family.
Hearing their insults, the men remembered how Paul had once called me “damaged goods.” It seemed like they all wanted to show off in front of me, so they went up to them and made sure they received the beating they deserved.
By the end, I heard they were lying on the ground, too beaten and exhausted to even say an- other word.
When Graham found out that the Rodgers family had been spreading lies about me, he was furious. He stopped holding back and immediately turned his attention to them.
At first, after returning home, Paul and the others kept making threats, saying they would never forgive me for terminating the pregnancy.
They insisted that the only way I could return to the Rodgers family or visit Paul’s grave was if I had another child for them. Otherwise, I could forget about ever going to his tomb again.
However, less than a month later, under Graham’s pressure, the Rodgers family went bankrupt. They lost everything, including their only villa, which was seized. In the end, they were left destitute, living on the streets.
As for Jessie, she had initially married Thad because he was the heir of the Rodgers family and would inherit their wealth. She married him to live a comfortable life.
But when Thad died, she realized that Paul was pretending to be him. Still, she didn’t care- whoever could inherit the Rodgers family’s wealth was good enough for her.
But now that the Rodgers family had no money, she wasn’t about to live a life of poverty. Not long after, she hooked up with a wealthy businessman, becoming his mistress, and ditched the Rodgers family.
Paul was furious. He called Jessie a bitch and tried to attack her, but he was beaten half to death by the businessman’s bodyguards.
Marcel and Sarah blamed him, saying that if he hadn’t insisted on pretending to be Thad, their family wouldn’t have fallen apart. He had ruined everything.
Paul, however, thought he had found a lifeline. He desperately told his parents that I loved

He promised that I would never abandon them and that the Rodgers family could still be saved.
He rushed to my house, shouting that he was Paul, not Thad, and that it had been his brother who died, not him. He claimed he had suffered amnesia and now remembered everything. He said that he loved me and begged to see me.
He also said that since the child was gone, we could try again, and that he had forgiven me for terminating the pregnancy.
Coincidentally, I had already gathered all the evidence that Paul had orchestrated my kidnap- ping and the harm he caused me. The police showed up at my house and took him away.
As he was being dragged off, he shouted, “Let go of me! Do you know who my wife is? It’s Monica! If you hurt me, she’ll make you pay!”
you did when you hired
I walked up to him calmly, leaned in, and whispered, “Paul, I’ve known all along it was you. You look pathetic now. By the way, it’s time for you to pay for what those kidnappers.”
Paul’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You… you knew everything?”
It all clicked for him. He stopped struggling, his face drained of color as he collapsed to the ground.
But soon enough, he got back up, clinging to my legs and begging for forgiveness, saying he only did everything because he loved me.
I sneered, motioned for him to be removed, and turned to walk back into the villa.

Paul was a selfish man who never took responsibility for his own actions. Now that he had fallen so low, he blamed everything on Jessie.
The day after he was arrested, he managed to escape. Instead of fleeing to safety, he went straight to Jessie and, in a fit of rage, killed her.

When Graham found out that Paul had been the one to harm me, he was livid. He was deter- mined to storm into the prison and tear him apart, and he was angry that I hadn’t told him
sooner.
I laughed and stopped him, saying, “Dad, someone like him isn’t worth your time.” Then I whispered something in his ear.
He burst into laughter and immediately dropped the idea of dealing with it himself.
Thanks to Graham’s influence, Paul’s death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. After all, letting him die so easily would’ve been too merciful.
Following my suggestion, Graham arranged for Paul to have some very special cellmates. One liked men, one was obsessed with word games, and another had violent tendencies and enjoyed humiliating others.
Graham gave their families a sum of money and asked them to “take good care” of Paul dur- ing their visits, ensuring that his life in prison would be far from dull.
As for me, I never remarried. Instead, I joined Graham’s company and learned everything I could about business from him.
Graham often patted me on the back and said, “I trust you with my business empire. Men can’t be relied on. Luckily, you’ve got the talent for it.”
Although he said that, he still worried about me being lonely and kept trying to find someone to marry me off for fun.
The men waiting to marry me were lined up from my home to the office, but I turned them all down.
Eventually, Graham gave up on matchmaking and started hiring male models who were good at making people laugh to entertain me. He said these men were all clean and had passed health checks.
Every few weeks, he’d switch them out. No emotional attachment, just men to entertain me for money. This time, I didn’t refuse.
At 32, I suddenly felt the desire to have a child. So, I went to a sperm bank and picked a donor.

After ten months, I gave birth to a daughter, a little girl who was all mine. She looked just like me when I was a child.
Spoiled by Graham, she quickly became a little troublemaker. I was constantly exasperated, always trying to get Graham to stop indulging her.
He wouldn’t listen. He said, “I spoiled you, and even then, you suffered when I wasn’t look- ing. My precious granddaughter deserves even more love. She’ll never suffer, not on my watch.”
When my daughter turned two, one night, still half–asleep in my arms, she said, “Mom, I saw you a long, long time ago.”
I chuckled and asked, “How long ago?”
She mumbled, “I can’t remember exactly, but I remember you said, I should wait a few years before coming to find you. Mom, why’s that?”
She blinked her innocent eyes and looked up at me.
I smiled. “Go to sleep now, sweetie. No more questions for a little one like you!”
