I had already hired a private investigator yesterday, and they’d been monitoring the Rodgers family around the clock.
After I left, I heard that Paul, who rarely showed any emotion in front of my dad, was so an- gry he flipped the table.
He yelled, “Monica is doing this on purpose! Ha, she’s deliberately called her dad here to in- timidate us! I’ve already agreed to merge the families, so why is she still acting like this?”
Sarah sighed and tried to calm him down. “Monica’s been spoiled since she was little. It must be because of your tone–too harsh, and then Jessie even slapped her. That upset her, so she probably called Mr. Wood over.”
She continued, “It’s fine if she stays at his place for a few days. The medical facilities there are better, and the conditions for keeping the pregnancy safe are also superior. As she stayed there, the baby will be safer.”
She added, “After a few days, we’ll go pick her up. You just need to soften your tone and bring up the family merger again. Once she’s calmed down and sees we’re sincere, she’ll come back.”
Paul scoffed. “All this drama, this threat–it’s just to get me to beg her to agree to the merger. Fine. For the sake of the Rodgers family and the baby, I’ll put up with it one more time.”
Marcel frowned. “Monica has really become too spoiled. She can’t stand the slightest incon- venience and drags the whole family into it. No wonder Thad and Paul don’t like her.”
- He added, “We’re lucky she loves Paul so much and is willing to compromise. Otherwise, no one in the Rodgers family would be able to control her!”
Paul sneered. “Who cares if she loves me? Jessie is a hundred times better than her! Let’s wait a month. She’ll be so anxious by then, she’ll stop playing these games. By then, she’ll agree without making a fuss.”

My in–laws nodded in agreement.

As I watched the secretly recorded video sent by the private investigator, showing the Rodgers family’s behavior, I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. I thought, ‘They still think I’ll give them a child?‘
That same day, I told Graham about my decision to terminate the pregnancy.
Graham knew how much pain I was in carrying this child, and he was already deeply con- cerned. When he heard I was planning to terminate the pregnancy, he immediately agreed
without hesitation.
He wasted no time in arranging for the most experienced doctor to perform the procedure.
I also told Graham not to worry about protecting the Rodgers family anymore, and that he didn’t need to keep helping them.
Of course, I didn’t tell him about how Paul had once had me kidnapped and assaulted. If I had, with Graham’s temperament and his protective nature, he would have gone after Paul with everything he had.
It wasn’t worth risking Graham’s safety over that scumbag. I’d make Paul pay, just not in the way they expected.
After the procedure, I took a month to rest and recover.
I no longer had to deal with nausea or injections. My body gradually started to heal, and I even gained some weight.
These days, Graham was thrilled to see me getting stronger. Once he heard I had finally let go of Paul, he excitedly began setting me up on blind dates. He said he wanted to find a good–looking, obedient man to marry into our family.
I felt a bit helpless. I wasn’t interested in dating again, but I couldn’t really argue with Gra- ham. The word had already spread.
Every day, a steady stream of men showed up at our door, hoping to be considered for the proposal.
After a month, the Rodgers family, now without the support of the Wood family, found

#ances themselves in deep trouble. They finally couldn’t stand it any longer and decided to bring Paul to see me.
When they reached the gate of the villa, they bumped into the crowd of men waiting in line for the proposal.
Paul looked at the group of men, confused. “What’s going on here? This is a mess.”
He tried to push his way through, but the men blocked the entrance.
As he thought he could just walk past, one man impatiently grabbed him. “Hey, are you here to marry Miss Wood too? You’ll have to wait your turn. We have rules—no cutting in line.”
My in–laws and Paul were left speechless.
Paul, completely stunned, asked, “Marry? Which Miss Wood?”
The man looked at him like he was crazy. “Which Miss Wood? There’s only one–Miss Monica Wood, of course! I heard her husband passed away not long ago.”
He added, “Now she’s single, and with a woman like her, of course there are plenty of men wanting to marry her! Look around, all these guys in line are here for her.”
He gestured toward the more than a hundred men waiting.
Paul’s face twisted in disgust, like he’d just eaten something rotten.
He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “You’re all crazy! Monica is still carrying her late husband’s child. Her heart is with him, and she’s never going to marry anyone else. Just leave!”
