Ava heard a loud sound, as if someone had fired a gun. She flinched in that sound and covered her ears.
“Upps, I meant the race has just begun,” the girl said, smirking at her.
Ava slowly removed her hands from her ears and rushed toward the way where the crowd began to cheer.
She felt herself nearly trip over while running. But then a boy took hold of her hand and straightened her out.
“Thank you,” she mumbled.
When she raised her head, she noticed a boy eyeing her body. She immediately pushed his
hand
away and said,
“Don’t touch me.”
The boy rolled his eyes and walked past her. She swallowed her breath, thinking that this place was strange. People around her were very different from her.
Since she did not have much time to think about other things, she started to walk again. She entered the crowd and pushed people to go further.
As she reached the edge where the audience was protected by a safety line, she turned to look for the cars.
“Are you new? Is this your first time?” A girl asked beside her.
Ava nodded her head and turned her head to look at her. She saw the girl had tattoos on her hands and neck. She was smoking while looking on the left side.
She turned to Ava and pointed with her hand that held the cigarette to the left, saying, “They are coming from that side.”
Ava realized that most of the people had tattoos there. Some of them had tattoos on their hands, neck, thighs, and other places she couldn’t even see.
She could smell alcohol and different scents. She understood that people around her were taking something. Looking over to the other side, she noticed some boys and girls smoking something.
“That’s cannabis. Do you want some?” the tattooed girl asked.
Ava immediately shook her head in response. The girl chuckled while looking at her.

At that time, a boy leaned in Ava’s ear from behind and said,
“Hey, babes. Can I stand behind you? Why not give me some rub while waiting for the cars?”
Ava was startled. She immediately turned around and pushed the boy.
“Wow. What’s there to get mad about? Just asking for a rub, babe,” the boys said, looking offended by her push.
Ava felt uncomfortable standing in the crowd. These people were really weird. They talked like nothing mattered to them. They were openly doing everything they wanted, and there was no one to stop them. They were becoming shameless as there were no restrictions for their
actions.
“Bro, just fuck off. She doesn’t look interested,” the tattooed girl said.
The boy moved to another girl as if it was just normal help that he wanted from girls. Ava returned her focus to the road.
As time passed, her mood was getting worse. She was feeling awkward.
“Don’t worry. You will get along with all of this very soon,” the tattooed girl said.
Ava shook her head. “No, I don’t want to.”
“And who are you supporting, by the way?”
Ava was just about to answer when the girls from both sides began to scream.
She turned her head to the left side and saw two cars coming.
One of them was red, and the other one was black in color.
She stared at the cars. They were coming at an unbelievable speed from a far distance.
Ava’s heart started to beat fast as it heard the sounds of the engines of the cars.
The black car was ahead of the red cars. The red car tried to cross it, but it was as if the black car was playing with the indicators. So even if the red car wanted to, it failed every time.
As the cars came close to where Ava was standing, the black car suddenly slowed down.
Ava’s heart skipped a beat when she caught a glimpse of Ian inside the black car.
As if time stopped, his gaze locked with hers. His brows furrowed as if he did not believe that she had come to watch a car race.
“IAN.”

The girls were cheering for Ian. They were stunned by watching his car slow down.
“What happened to you, Ian? Go faster!” the girls shouted in frustration.
Ava broke eye contact and turned to look at the other car, which was close to the finish line.
She shook her head because she did not want the other car to win. She looked at Ian.
“Come on, Ian!” she yelled so he could hear her.
The boys and girls thought she was one of his fans. So other girls were also saying it loudly.
Ian looked away from Ava and gazed at the red car.
He switched gears and pressed the accelerator hard. The car sped past Ava, like a gust of wind.
“That’s dangerous! What if he would lose the balance?” The tattoo girl said from beside Ava.
Upon hearing her, Ava’s heart started to race. She had no idea about car races. She was afraid that Ian would lose his balance.
She prayed inside her heart while watching the cars.
Just as the red car was about to touch the finish line, the black car drove past it and crossed the line first.
Everyone gasped in shock as it was almost impossible because the red car was also very fast in speed at that time.
The whole crowd broke into cheers.
However, Ian didn’t stop the car or slow down. Instead, he drifted the car in a circle.
Looking at the black car, Ava’s eyes grew wide.
“Oh my god!”
“He is so hot even when he is driving!
“Look at his master skills!”
“Let’s go to him!”
The girls rushed toward Ian’s car and stopped in a distance to give him space to come out.

Ian pressed the brake, causing the tires to screech loudly.
The car stopped, and Ian got out of the car.
“Congratulations, Ian.
The girls ran up to him.

Ava watched him from afar. She was relieved in her heart. Not because he won, but because he was safe and did not lose his balance.
