Ava froze when she realized her heart was not ready to confront him.
However, she eventually came to the realization that she was not the one who could be blamed for anything that had happened in the past.
Then why would she run away fro
She should stand still and look into his
face him.
She took a long breath and lowly turned around.
She looked at him and tightened her fists.
Ian’s eyes were cold, and his face was indifferent.
When she saw him moving his gaze from her face to her body, she clenched her jaw.
She felt lowly to herself because his gaze was scanning her body in the same way that other men did with prostitutes.
But she did not move an inch. She stood there still, staring at him.
When his gaze returned to her eyes, she spoke out,
“I–Ian-”
“Alpha,” he corrected her.
“W–What?”
He took a whiff of smoke and exhaled it out of his mouth a few seconds later. Then he muttered,
“Bow down to your Alpha.”
His voice was dominant. Her wolf inside almost submitted to him. But in order to avoid making a mistake, she caged her wolf
inside.
Ava did not move even after hearing him.
Ian raised a brow and said,
“It seems this pack only lives a developed life, but they forget to develop their manners.”
”
“This pack’s people know how to show manners. But they only bow down to their head Alpha, not just any Alpha that came from another pack,” she replied bluntly.
It was the first time she spoke to him like that after four years.
There was no way Ava would show him how he could affect her. She would give him the answers he deserved.
lan’s eyes darkened as he asked,
“What did you just say?”
“This pack’s people only bow their heads to their Alpha.”
“And who is your Alpha?” he asked, smashing the cigarette butt on the ashtray.
She took a step back, thinking that he would get up from the couch
“Alpha Dane.”
She replied with a clear voice without stuttering.

As if he did not like her answer, his hand paused on the ashtray.
He let go of the cigarette and looked at her.
“I think you forgot who you are talking with, Waitress. Not only you, but I can make your whole family bow down before me.”
Ava flinched upon hearing him.
How could she forget that her brother Stephen was his garma? Her parents were also staying in his pack.
Ava loosened her fists and slowly bowed her head, pushing her self–esteem away from her heart.
He did not say anything as he stared at her.
Finding him silent, she slowly stood straight and looked at him..
She gritted her teeth and asked,
“You wanted me here, Alpha lan. May I know the reason?”
He did not respond to her as if he were thinking about something. She waited for him to reply.
After a few seconds, he spoke,
“You are aware of the reason. You know, that’s why you came here.”
She averted her gaze away from him.
She knew? What did she know? That he intended to use her as if she were a prostitute?
She was about to tell him that she did not work here, but before she could, he said,
“You look like an expert. I have no wonder you have been working here for years. You must be really happy that you caught a very big client tonight.”
Ava felt a pang in her chest.
If she had already let go of him from her heart, then why was she getting too affected by this man’s words? She should ignore his bitter words, right? Then why was she unable to do that?
She kept quiet, not in the state to let out anything. She was hurt by his words.
She had been living in this pack like a dignified woman, but this man came here to break her dignity again.
After a few minutes of silence, he signaled her with his hand to the couch where he was sitting,
“Pour a drink for me.”
Ava’s gaze shifted to the coffee table, where the bucket of ice and a bottle of wine were set up inside. There were two glasses beside the bucket.
She wanted to leave the room but she did not want to run away from him again. So she walked toward the couch and sat beside
him.
When she moved to grab the bottle, her dress moved a little up from her thighs since it was a short and tight dress.
She looked at the bottle carefully. She had no idea how to open it. It looked like it was locked.
She was so focused on the bottle that she did not notice how the man beside her was looking at her. His eyes began to shift back and forth between black and red.
His jaws were clenched.
His fists were firmly balled.

Ava wanted to put the bottle back on the table. However, a memory came to her mind.
She recalled a night a few months ago when she won a project and Alpha Dane threw a party to the entire department.
Nobody expected him to attend the party because he disliked socializing with his employees. However, he did come and congratulate Ava.
Ava remembered him opening the bottle of champagne for her.
The memory made her smile. She started to do what she could remember to open the bottle.
Her smile caught lan’s attention. His brow furrowed.
She started to apply pressure to twist the corkscrew until the screw was fully embedded in the cork. So, as she was ready to open the bottle, she heard him.
