As the car drove away, Stephen turned to face Ava.

Ava blinked while looking away. “W–We were just talking,” she replied while thinking that Stephen had seen them close.

Stephen lowered his head and listened to them. Gamma Harper noticed this and asked him,

Angela and Harper exchanged a look of surprise. Ava did not want any arguments in her family.

She turned to Gamma Harper and said, “Dad, it happened even before your wedding. So you didn’t fail to protect me. You made me feel safe at all times.”
Gamma Harper drew her into an embrace. Angela stroked Ava’s hair.
She looked at Stephen, who seemed upset. She had not told Stephen about Ava’s identity. She thought it was time when Ava would tell him on her own. But right now, what mattered was telling him about Alpha Dane.
“Stephen, Alpha Dane came to our house last night,” Angela told him.
