Ava’s eyes flung open when she heard his whisper. She blinked her eyes. “I–I…”
She started to feel nervous in her heart. She did not know what had happened to her suddenly. She was fine just a few seconds ago.
Her heart began to beat faster, making her feel restless inside.
A frown formed between Dane’s brows. He realized she did not want it.
He tilted his head to kiss her lips. However, she turned her bead, and his lips touched her cheek.
He did not mind kissing her cheek. His lips slid down her cheek to her neck. She closed her eyes as his lips ran over
her skin.
He grasped her hands and wrapped them around his neck. She used her fists to clench his shirt, He left butterfly kisses on her neck.
His hands began to run around her waist before moving to her breasts. Just as he touched one, a flashback occurred in her mind, causing her eyes to wide open.
She immediately held his hand to remove it from her bosom.
Dane was kissing her neck, so when she pushed his hand, he raised his head to look at her.
“What happened?”
Ava blinked several times to calm herself. He cupped her cheeks.
“Not liking my touch.”
She hurriedly shook her head. “It’s not like that.”
“Then?”
“I–I think-”
She paused when her eyes fell on the window, which was next to the couch. Her eyes froze when she saw a black car outside the house.
From the window, the person inside the car could see them clearly. However, the black windshield prevented her from seeing inside the car. Smoke was coming out of the window next to the driver’s seat.
She recognized the car.
She was too shocked to realize that he was there.
She gulped as her heart tightened. She did not understand why she was feeling that way.
She recalled how that man reacted four years ago when he saw her in Robin’s room. Though now the situation was different and the person beside her was her man, still, she was not feeling well.
Dane moved his hand to her waist, bringing her closer to him again.
“What’s wrong, Ava?”
She shook her head and got up from the couch.
“I–I think I should leave now,” she stuttered.

Dane appeared to be confused. “Are you okay?”
“Am fine, Dane. Mom must be waiting for me. I will be here for a few days only. I start working here again. So how I want to spend as much time with her as possible.”
Dane let out a sigh and gave her a nod.
“Okay.”
She was about to move toward the door. However, she paused and wrapped her arms around him to hug him.
“Thanks for understanding me.”
Dane responded by nodding his head. While hugging, she looked out the window to see if the man was still
present.
She felt relieved when she saw there was no car outside.
Was what she saw an illusion?
She broke the hug. Dane said his driver would take her home. She denied, saying that she could go back home by herself. She got out of the house as quickly as possible.
She left the house area and walked down the street. Because it was not too late, she stood in a street corner, trying
to hail a cab.
But before the cab could approach her, another car pulled up next to her.
Ava was surprised when she saw the black car again.
The car door opened, and a man stepped out of it.
When the cabbie saw the man, he drove away without stopping.
Ava cast a cold look at the man.
“Mr. Dawson.”
Ian walked around the car to reach her. Just as she was about to speak again, he grabbed her neck and turned her around to press her against his car.
“You don’t have any shame, do you?” he said, gritting his teeth.
His eyes were bloodshot. His jaw was clenched. His grip was firm. He looked like he would kill her right now.
“I would have killed that bastard tonight if you had not left the house at the time.”
His tight grip almost made Ava gasp for air.
She grasped his wrist and pushed him away. He retreated a step back. She noticed that he seemed out of control. That was why she could shake him.
He grabbed her arms and glared at her.
“How long have you been planning all of this with him, huh? You both played with me, right? You knew him before you knew me. He admitted that himself.”
Hearing him, Ava was taken aback. She paused, gazing at him.
“I have never seen a man like you, Ian Dawson. You are a man who can only make assumptions. How ridiculous

your accusations are!”
Hisgrip tightened on her arms, causing her to hiss in pain.
He ignored her pain and asked,
“Why? You didn’t use to go to his house to please him? Your target was always him. You just wanted to catch his attention. It was the only way to reach him. After all, your father had already fixed him for you.”
Ava was shocked. How did he know that? How much more did he know? Did he know that she was a hybrid?
She pushed his hands away from her arms and replied,
“If you want to know the truth, then let me tell you. I am not sure what he said earlier today, but I did not know him before leaving this pack. Now, happy after getting your answer? Then just leave me alone.”
After saying that, she began walking past him.
He grabbed her wrist and pushed her back against his car once again.
His eyes desperately looked at her neck. He looked mad and restless.
“Have you gone insane? What’s wrong with you?” she asked.
“Yes, I have gone insane,” he yelled, slamming his fist against the door next to her.
Ava flinched and widened her eyes. She turned her head to look at the door. She saw the car door slightly creased.
She turned her head and glared at him.
“You madman! What do you want? Do you also need someone to do what I was doing with Dane? You were watching it, right? Why don’t you just go and have your fiancée rather than disturb us?”
Ian stared at her without replying to her. He balled his fists while moving backward.
“I am surprised! How easy it is for you to embrace another man!”
