Dake’s words surprised Ava. “Never forgive him?” she mumbled.
Her thoughts reverted to the regretful eyes. Tan looked really regretful about the misunderstanding
“Yes, don’t forgive me. Never. He made you suffer for all these years. I do not want you to forget everything and start acting as if he had never done anything wrong.
His words compelled her tender heart to change her mind.
Dane was right. She should not forgive lan. He broke her heart numerous times, and she should never forget it.
She nodded, causing her nose to brush up against his again. “Okay.”
Dane’s eyes flickered as if he was satisfied with her answer, le leaned in closer, shifting his gaze from her eyes to her lips.
Before his lips could touch hers, they heard giggles. Dane turned his head and looked to the side.
Ava blinked, her cheeks flushing red. She cast a glance to the side where Dane was looking. She saw a few girls holding their phones as if they were clicking their pictures and recording videos.
“L–Let’s leave,” she mumbled, moving away from Dane.
Dane glared at the girls, who were startled by his dark eyes. They hurriedly ran to the other side.
Dane sighed and walked to the front door of his car. Ava sat in the passenger seat, while Dane took over the driving
He started the car and headed to Ava’s house to drop her.
Ava remained silent throughout the ride. She leaned back against the seat and looked out at the passing road. She took a deep breath, unsure why her heart was heavy.
When the car stopped in front of her house, Ava turned to Dane and asked,
“What was Freya saying at the time? You cornered her? But you told me she was the one who had fallen out of love.
Dane’s eyes were on the parked cars near the house. He did not respond to her, which bothered her. She asked, reaching out to grasp his hand,
“Dane, you mentioned we would talk about it later. Then… what happened?”
He turned his head to meet her curious gaze. His lips parted as he spoke,
“It’s true. I was first to fall out of love. Because someone else caught my eye at that time.”
Ava’s hand shook around his hand. She slowly removed her hand from his, not knowing what to think.
“How could someone else capture your attention while you were with someone? Was that not considered cheating?
she thought in her mind.
“Ava, don’t think too much. I had been searching for you for years. So when I finally found you, I was relieved. I did not immediately think about pursuing you; however, as time passed, I realized that I was bound to you. You were the one who tied me to your fate.”

Ava lowered her head. She remembered Freya’s face when she had said her story. She was very upset. The pain that flashed in her eyes was visible.
But Dane, she used to love you. You shouldn’t have broke her heart.”
“So? Didn’t lan do the same with that Nova girl when he started approaching you?
She was startled by his question. She raised her gaze and met his eyes.
She recalled lan made Nova his girlfriend after rejecting het as his mate. But then he realized that he did wrong when he rejected her; later he broke up with Nova.
“That was different. lan liked to play around with girls. He was not that serious at that time. But you… I have heard your side too. You said you loved her. You even said that you made the other boy separate from her in childhood. Weren’t you talking about lan that time?”
Dane was silent. Ava thought she would have to know what had happened years ago that affected three people’s minds so badly.
“Dane, please. Tell me.”
Dane tapped his fingers on the steering wheel and turned his attention to the house. He thought for a while, reflecting on that night, then said,
“When we were kids, Freya was fond of Ian. However, she was selfish too. She was more interested in me because we used to live in the same pack. So I was her favorite companion. On the other hand, seeing her growing friendship with Ian, I didn’t like it. I was afraid he would take her away from me. So I told her parents that I wanted her only with me. If she befriended lan, I would not go to the same school as her or help them with anything in the future.”
Ava was not expecting this. He made a bad decision to end a friendship. But she did not speak as she wanted to.
“It was the night after Freya’s birthday. We came to visit this pack with our parents. Our parents had told us to go to the garden. We went there together. lan was overjoyed that night. He approached Freya and told her that he had prepared a gift for her. I was not pleased with it. Because I had already given Freya the gift she said she liked best. It was a lovely small crown for her size. I ordered it with the help of one of her friends.”
Ava stared at Dane. She could not believe Dane was so thoughtful at his young age.
“However, lan ruined all of my efforts. He gave her a small violin, stating that he had heard she wanted to play it. Freya seemed shocked when she saw the violin. She indeed liked it. But she refused to accept it, telling him that she wanted to break their friendship and only wanted to be with me. She didn’t want any other gifts. lan was surprised and asked if I had said something to her. I was mail at him for asking me questions. I grabbed his violin and threw it. The violin broke on the ground. He was furious and dashed toward me. We got into a heated fight that time. In the fight, Freya got hurt in her legs. I got mad and punched him hard.”
Ava bit her bottom lip; she did not want to accept that, but she felt that lan was not wrong there.
But Dane’s next statement shocked her even more, revealing why lan disliked his father.
“His dad knew what a loser he was. When he noticed Freya was hurt, he slapped him. When he realized his son had started the fight, he forced him to kneel in front of everyone and made him apologize to me.”
