Affer parking his bike inside the garage, lan was about to exit. His steps halted as he turned to look at the broken sports car. Every time he looked at it, all he could think about was the pain he had endured following the accident. He recalled how he secretly hoped to see Ava again, but she never came back. This car used to increase the hatred for Ava in his heart.
But tonight, he regretted it.
He regretted all the times he thought he hated Ava; he regretted the times he thought she cheated on him.
His legs moved toward the car. He lifted his hand and reached out to touch the cracked windshield. He let out a low groan as he caressed it with his fingertips.
There was blood streaming from a cut on his finger. It was the saine hand that had been wounded on the knuckles. He looked down at his fingers. Suddenly a memory flashed in his head.
He recalled how Ava was hugging his leg, begging him not to leave her when he found her in Robin’s room. He even called her names and said that her place was beneath his feet.
“I should have died in the accident. I wouldn’t have to feel this regret.”
With his bloodied hand, he touched his chest and placed it over his heart. With a deep breath, he murmured,
“Even if I die, I will not be able to make amends for what I did to her. I deserve to be punished.”
After a long time, he left the garage, heading to the front door of the pack house.
When he went inside, all of the lights were turned off. He returned home late at night.
When he reached his bedroom, his steps came to a halt. He saw his mother sitting on the bed, holding her phone to her ear.
As soon as she noticed him, she removed the phone from her ear.
“You are back! I was calling you, but you did not answer

She paused when her gaze fell on the blood on his t–shirt inside the jacket. It looked as if he got hurt on his chest.
She rushed toward him in fear.
“lan! My baby, what happened to you?”
She began to cry while holding his arms.
Seeing his mother crying for him, Ian felt an emotional turmoil inside. He did not know whom to share his regret and pain with.
He pulled her into a hug and closed his eyes.
“Mom.”
His mother froze when she heard his painful voice. She patted his back while saying,
“Ian, we should call our private doctor right now. You need to be treated. What happened to you? How did you get that wound?”
Ian could hear the desperate tone in her voice. He released the embrace and looked at her.

“Mom, I am fine. It was my heart that was hurt, not my chest. Mom, I am a really horrible person. Such a person has no right to exist.
She was too shocked to react when her eyes met his watery eyes.
She immediately cupped his cheeks and sobbed. She was a mother. A mother could not see her child’s pain.
This was the first time she had ever seen him like this. From childhood, fan was a strong child who never cried when he wanted something and did not get it. He was a wise child who liked to listen to his parents. However, after what had happened in the past, he started to distance himself from his parents and began to live like a careless boy. After that, it was impossible to imagine anyone ever seeing, tears in his eyes.
In the last four years, he had become the most successful Alpha, possessing a dominant aura and a powerful personality. Nobody could believe he was capable of crying.
“What are you saying, Lan?” She inquired, her gaze drawn to the wound through which the blood had flowed.
She felt trembled inside.
“Your hand!”
“Just some simple cuts, Mom,” he murmured, trying to pull away when she grabbed his hand.
She dragged him to the bed and pushed him to sit down. She walked to the nightstand and opened a drawer where the first–aid box should be. She took out the box and sat down next to him.
She wiped her eyes before she opened the box. She then began to dress his wounds.
Ian’s eyes were on his mother. He could see how much his mother cared for him.
“With whom did you have a fight? Is it because of Freya?”
His mother’s question caused his brows to furrow. “Why would I get into a fight for her?” he asked.
She paused, lifting her gaze to meet his. “Your wounds looked like you got into a fight. I thought it was because of her since you loved her the most.”
The blurriness in his eyes faded as dark clouds appeared in them. “Mom, who told you that I love her?”
Ignoring his expression, she continued to dress his wound. Because she is your childhood lover. That is why, when you said you wanted to make her your Luna, we agreed.”
“Childhood lover? Is this what you thought?”
“Or else?”
“Mom, that’s not true. I liked her when we were kids. But we are not kids anymore. “That is not even love, so op calling her my childhood lover,” he said in a disturbed tone. Because his mother’s words made him rememb.. Ava’s words about him and Freya. She did not care if he got married to Freya or any other woman.
Carolina closed the first–aid kit after bandaging his knuckles and applying a Band–Aid to his finger.
She examined his face and observed his expressions.
“What happened? Has she broken your heart? Why are you suddenly saying this?”
Jan’s face became calm as he took his mother’s hand.

“What if I said I broke someone else’s heart, Mom? I hurt her so badly that I can not mend her heart again. How can I apologize to her?”
“Carolina was caught off guard. Someone else? Did her son break another girl’s heart?
“lan-”
“Mom, please. I can’t see any way in front of me.
Thinking that he had made a mistake, she let out a breath.
“lan, you have no choice but to apologize because you cannot win back her heart. If she doesn’t want you to be near her, you should stay away from her.”
“But… I want her back, Mom,” his voice trembled.
Carolina was shocked. She was not sure what to say. That time, she only said whatever came to mind.
“You can only get another chance if fate gives it to you.
