Everyone clapped as Ava blew out the candle. She cut the cake and gave the first slice to her parents. The next piece was for Dane. But her gaze was drawn to Stephen, who was standing alongside his friends.
She gave Dane an apologetic look before walking over to Stephen..
Ian was very close to Stephen, so he was taken aback when she began coming in his direction. His heart started to beat faster as he thought she was coming to him.
His heart grew to believe in an impossible hope. A smile reached his eyes when she came near him.
However, the moment she walked past him, his heart pierced inside. He shut his eyes and hurriedly composed his expression.
“Steph, my brother, after our parents, it is your right,” Avastated, standing in front of Stephen.
Stephen was surprised. He could not believe that Ava had indeed forgiven him from her heart.
He ate the piece and hugged her. He kissed her forehead and said,
“Thanks, Ava. I thought we would never have the same bond again.”
“It’s not true, Steph. I am still your lil sister.”
Stephen nodded his head, breaking the hug.
Ava went back to her place and took another piece. “Dane.”
Dane looked at the piece of cake, looking unhappy. It caught Ava off guard.
Dane was not pleased with her actions. He expected her to feed him first before anyone else. In the past, he was always the top priority on someone’s list.
Seeing that he was not eating the piece, Ava could not help but feel bad inside. Did she make a mistake? Should she feed him first?
“I am sorry,” she whispered to him, not wanting anyone else to hear her.
As she was about to move the piece away from his mouth, Dane held her wrist and bit on the piece. He then took the half piece from her hand and fed her.
“Happy birthday once again.”
The four elders averted their gaze. Harper chuckled and said,
“Let the children spend time together. We should head upstairs to play chess.”
Martin agreed by nodding his head. Carolina was about to follow them when she noticed Angela staring at Dane
and Ava.
“Stop staring at them; silly woman. They will feel uncomfortable,” Carolina said, chuckling.
Angela turned away and said, “You can go upstairs; I have prepared something for you all. Let me instruct the maids about it. I will be there in a few minutes.”
Carolina nodded and proceeded to the stairs. When Angela saw her leave, she approached Ian and took his hand.

Ian frowned at her, not understanding why she was dragging him into a corner. Stephen wanted to come, but Angela glared at him, warning him not to get between them
What’s wrong, Mrs. Taylor?” Ian asked her.
Angela let go of his hand and warned, “My daughter is happy now. Don’t try to ruin her happiness. I know you rejected her years ago.”
Ian was taken aback. But he did not show anything. “I am not going to do anything to ruin her happiness.”
“I am hoping,”
After that, Angela left the living room.
Ian clenched his fists, trying not to react to his emotions. His gaze landed on Ava. She was going somewhere. Dane was also busy with his phone.
Ian followed Ava and went behind her.
When Ian saw her enter another corridor, he spoke up from behind.
“Ava”
Ava turned around to face him.
“You again? What do you want now?” she asked, looking into his eyes.
Ian walked up to her, stopping a step away. He gave her a little smile and said,
“Happy birthday, Ava.”
His voice was very gentle, touching her heart. She ignored it and said in a cold voice.
“Thanks. If you are done, I have some things to do.”
His heart sank when he saw how eager she was to leave him
He reached his hand into his dark suit jacket’s pocket and took out a black box.
Ava frowned upon seeing it. “What is it?”
He took her hand and placed it on her palm. “It is for you,” he replied softly.
She held the small box, observing from outside. Her eyes went back to him.
Ian lowered his head and muttered,
“I know you are with Dane. It would have been inappropriate if I had given this to you in front of him or others. But it is very special to me, and I have wanted to give it to you for a long time. I hope you will like it. It will be my last gift to you. After this, I won’t come into your way again!”
Ava stared at him for a moment then let out a sneer. “Not come into my way again? I have been telling you not to bother me so many times. You always do the same thing.”
He shook his head and dropped his gaze. He clenched his hands inside his pockets, attempting to calm his expression.
“I am really sorry for everything I did in the past. I can only hope for your forgiveness.”
