Ava frowned at Ian. “What are you doing inside my house?”
He folded his arms without responding to her. She could not see his expression. Only the moonlight that filtered through the slightly open blinds illuminated his silhouette
“Where is everyone?”
He let out a sigh and replied, “Stephen is sleeping in his bedroom.”
“How about my parents? How did they allow you to stay at our home?”
He stepped away from the pillar and began to approach her. She did not take any steps back.
“For your kind information, this is my pack-”
“That does not make any sense. This house is not yours.”
“But the gamma that lives inside this house is mine,” he stated, standing in front of her.
In the dark, the tall figure towered over her. “You didn’t answer my question. How was your dinner date? You were having a great time with him, right?”
Ava scoffed at him. “Why do you care? He is my boyfriend; of course, I was enjoying my time with him.”
He turned silent for a moment, then spoke,
“You are not in the Thunder Howl Pack.”
“So what?”
“You should maintain some- “I
“You are no one to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do, Alpha Ian. And don’t ever call me what you have called me a while ago.”
He lowered his head and whispered,
“What? Mate?”
Ava felt her heart skip a beat. Even in the dark, his breath hit her face perfectly, causing her to take a step back. She began to feel scared about it.
Her heart began to race, causing her to feel confused. It reminded her of what had happened last night. The pair of red eyes and a black giant wolf reflected in her mind, sending shivers down her spine. She remembered how his wolf jumped on her and licked her neck.
She closed her eyes, trying not to think about how she felt at the time.
After a brief silence, she turned her head away and gritted her teeth.
“Where is Mom and Dad?”
Ian stood up straight as if he could clearly see her in the dark.
“Well, I summoned them to my house and…”
He chuckled and added, “I didn’t go there.”

“You what?” She asked in disbelief.
“You are aware that both of our fathers are retired. I called your parents at my house before planning a long night together for them. They might be playing chess while eating midnight snacks. Or perhaps they are recalling old memories because four of them are very close friends.”
Ava tightened her fists. This man had planned everything to get to her house and bother her. It really made her enraged.
“And what are you doing here?” she asked.
He stepped backward until his back pressed against the pillar where he was leaning before.
“Nothing. I thought, why not have supper together since it was your birthday, but it looks like you have already had your dinner with someone else.”
“Tsk! this man! Never stop disturbing me,” she muttered, moving toward the wall where the switchboard was. As she placed her hand over it to turn on the lights, she said,
“How did you even think that I would go out with you to have din–”
She paused when the lights turned on and her eyes fell on the dining table in the corner of the large living room.
The table was beautifully decorated, with flowers and candles placed in the center. There was perfectly placed cutlery. She noticed many dishes on the table.
To her surprise, all of the dishes were her favorites. She blinked as her gaze was drawn to the apron hanging on a chair.
All of the food appeared to be untouched.
She was confused as she muttered,
“D–Did you make all of the dishes?”
Her eyes slowly shifted to Ian. She expected the same look in his eyes that he had given her last night.
But she was stunned. His eyes were calm, extremely calm.
She looked into his eyes, feeling as if she were drowning in a black ocean, with no one to save her.
“What do you think?” he asked with a deep voice.
It was not soft, but neither was it cold.
He was giving her a different impression. It was like the old Ian that she had been talking to after the night reunion party had gone.
In front of her was not that person but the Alpha Ian who everyone had always talked about, the Alpha Ian who only knew how to rule his pack and got what he desired.
She forced herself to look away from him and replied,
“I misunderstood. How can Alpha Ian do something like that for anyone?”
She realized she had made a mistake by saying that. It might have sounded like she was upset with him for not doing so. So she quickly changed her words and said,

“I mean, he can do that for his fiancée. And her fiancée doc not live here. So…”
While saying that, she had a sarcastic grin on her face. However, when he spoke, her grin froze in shock.
“Today, I spoke with Freya. I told her that I have a mate. She asked me to reject my mate. I told her that I would never do that.”
He lowered his head, slipped his hand into his pocket, and added
“I told her that we can not get married. There was nothing between us anyway. It was just a commitment that I broke. I will definitely compensate her.”
