After Informing Dane of her departure, Ava left the company. He was in a meeting, so she texted him and told him she was going to her old university’s campus for something
The only thing that Dane did was say okay because he was in a meeting at the time. He did not ask her anything during that time.
The moment Ava arrived on campus, she made a beeline for the library to get that book.
As soon as she walked into the library, many memories instantly appeared before her eyes. The sight of the table where she and her friends used to sit and read in the past brought a smile to her face. She and Luke used to come here almost every day to work on statistics.
She turned around and recognized the familiar librarian. She walked toward her desk and said,
“Hello.”
The woman raised her glasses to her nose and took a close look at Ava.
“Is the nerd back on campus?” the woman mumbled as she recognized Ava since she used to be a bookworm.
Ava smiled at her and asked,
“How are you?”
“I am good. As you can see, I am still the librarian and doing my job well. By the way, what are you doing here? Have you decided to become a teacher? Do you need some books?”
Ava did not clarify her profession to her as she turned her back to her and glanced at the last bookshelves in the
corner.
“Yeah, I need one.”
“Go and grab it. I am checking your old membership card,” the woman said after checking on her laptop.
Ava nodded and proceeded to the far end of the library, where the ancient books were stored.
She came to a halt beside the table where she had last read the book. She moved toward the bookshelves only to remember the day when she got that book.
The reflection of Ian pressing her against a bookshelf came to her mind. That day he asked forgiveness from her. He even stated that he liked her nerdy appearance.
She shook her head, trying to push all of the memories away while murmuring to herself.
“Stop thinking about all those memories, Ava.”
Leaning over the bookshelves, she began looking for the particular book.

After ten minutes of searching, she was unable to locate the book on any of the shelves.
“Where is the book?”
She huffed, feeling defeated. She rested her back against a pillar, wondering where the book could be.
‘Did someone steal the book?‘ she wondered, shaking her head with worry.

‘No, no. That’s not possible!!
She hurried to the librarian, Ignoring the stares from the other students at the table.
“What happened? You look worried!” the woman asked, giving her a confused look.
“Miss, could you please check out the book “The Myth of Alpha’s Rejection“? I really need the book right now. It’s urgent.”
It appeared as though the woman had recalled the book, as her expression of confusion began to fade, and she responded,
“I told you many years ago that the students were not permitted to read those books. It’s just the library is really big and protected; that’s why the
it books are here,”
“I swear I will not want to borrow that book. I will read it here for a few minutes,” Ava replied.
She had the idea of quickly taking photos of the pages so she could read them later.
However, the librarian woman shook her head. “No, you can’t. You are not allowed to touch any of those books either,”
Ava felt disappointed. “I came here with a lot of hope.”
“That’s not in my hand, girl.”
Ava knew the librarian could not do anything about it. So she only let out a sigh and turned around to leave the library.
But the woman spoke up from behind,
“By the way, the library does not even have that book. In order for Alpha to review and modify the rules, all of the important books were sent to the pack house in Alpha’s study room prior to the head Alpha position being changed.”
Ava was stunned. So the book was actually in Ian’s study room?
‘How will I get it now?‘ she thought.
She turned to the woman and thanked her for informing her.
Ava left the campus and hailed a cab. She decided to go to the pack house. She needed to get the book today, by hook or crook.
When the cab arrived in front of the pack house, she paid the driver and got out of the car.
She took a deep breath and mumbled to herself, “If Ian’s parents ask why I came, I will tell them I came to see Auntie and have a chat.”
The guards did not stop her because they were aware she was Gamma Stephen’s sister.
The maids greeted her when Ava walked into the pack house. Upon observing that there was no one present in the living room, Ava inquired,
“Where is Uncle and Auntie?”
One of the maids politely responded, “They are not at home. You can wait until they return; in the meantime, we can prepare something for you.”

“No, no. It’s okay. Don’t be bothered. I will just wait. Where is Head Alpha’s study room? He told me to bring some documents,” she said cleverly.
Upper floor, last room in the right corner.”
“Thank you.”
When she saw the maids had left, she dashed upstairs. Her steps were quick as she made her way toward lan’s study room.
As she opened the door, the noticed that there were three long bookshelves in the room. She made a hasty trip over there and immediately began searching for the book.
As soon as she located the book, her eyes lit up with excitement.
Overjoyed, she exclaimed, “There it is! The book!”
The book was on the very first row of shelves. To get to the book, she put out her hand and stood on her toes. However, she could not grasp it.
Even after jumping and making several attempts, she was unable to get her hands on the book.
‘Let’s try again,‘ she thought.
She jumped on her toe once more.
Her hand came close to touching the book this time, but she was unable to seize it.
However, before her legs touched the ground, a hand lightly brushed against hers, and another wrapped around her waist.
A deep voice rang in her ears, making her gasp in surprise.
“It’s bad to enter someone’s room without permission, baby.”
