It was the day of the annual ball competition..
Ava’s hard work came to an end, and all of the costumes she had prepared were in front of her.
Dane was really impressed with her work. In fact, every employee was confident that their company would win the project.
“There is no doubt that you are the best.”
Dane’s voice came from next to her. They were currently sitting in his car, heading to the location where the fashion show was going to be held.
Ava was feeling nervous. Dane noticed it and reached out to hold her hand.
Ava almost flinched at his touch, but she controlled herself and kept her calm.
A few days ago, she tried to get the ancient book from Ian’s study, but he caught her and refused to hand it to her. After that, he did not try to come across her. Ava also focused on her work and did not give the mate bond a thought. Though she considered telling Dane about it, she thought she should get the book first. She should find a way to break the bond first before telling him about it.
“You will win the project. It will be a big turning point for your career,” Dane said, caressing the back of her hand with his thumb.
Ava turned her gaze to the man who genuinely cared for her with no expectations. She stared at him with her eyes filled with admiration.
She did not want to lose him. She wanted to be with him. However, her wolf was not fond of him. Her wolf only wished to be with her mate.
She was in real trouble.
Suddenly, Dane leaned close to her, which caught her off guard.
She did not feel well these days being so close to him. Her wolf wanted to push him because she knew his intentions to get closer to her. Because of her wolf, Ava could not get close to Dane.
“Why do you seem nervous? You are with Alpha Dane, the man who gets anything he wants. If they didn’t give you the project, then I will-”
Ava interrupted him by pressing her hand against his mouth. “Don’t say that. It’s not a school competition where you can buy a judge. I want to win this project with my hard work. Don’t make any trouble for the other pack.”
He did not take her hand away from his mouth as he continued to stare at her. When she realized she was still covering his mouth, she blinked and moved it away.
“I am sorry. I was just… I know this project is really important for your pack. This project can help our company in a high position. Everyone is trying their best. But please be fair.”
Dane let out a sigh and shook his head. He stroked his hand on her hair and replied,
“You are a really kind and dignified woman. I have never seen a woman like you. That’s why you are me.”
He then let out a low chuckle. “You are in front of the beast of a pack, and you are asking about fairness. Everything is fair in love and war.”

Once the Alphas of each pack and their respective designers arrived at the venue, the fashion show was officially underway.
Ava’s friends came to her and hugged her, saying, “All the best.”
“Are you going to wear the costume of this pack company? Ava asked Debra with excitement.
She shook her head and made a gesture toward someone.
Ava turned her head only to find Freya. She noticed Freya was saying something to someone. Her eyes fell on the

Ava noticed Freya holding Ian’s arm while talking. It appeared that she was unhappy about something and was complaining to him. He, on the other hand, patted her head as if to coax her.
Ava was unaware that seeing Ian so close to Freya caused a burning sensation in her heart.
She ignored them and turned to Debra and Abigail.
“Oh. So Freya is going to be the main model of your pack?”
Abigail gave her a suspicious look and said, “Yeah. I have heard that Alpha and Freya split up. But Freya appears to still hold a special place in his heart.”

When the models began their ramp walk, Ava went to sit next to Dane as Designer Florence.
Everyone applauded when a model appeared in her costume.
She designed it.
It was beautifully decorated with expensive fabric and stones that shone even in low light.
Ava’s gaze shifted to Ian, who sat across from her on the opposite side of the stage.
She gasped when she heard him saying in the mate link,
