Ava’s heart froze at his words. She stared at him. He was so close to her face that she could feel his breath.
She assumed he was teasing him because he wanted to make her belleve that. He would then make fun of her after she had put her trust in him.
Ava looked into his eyes and said,
“I prefer to keep my distance from you. We are no longer mates to whom you must be bound. You are now free, Ian Dawson. You can live your life without any stress. No one will make fun of you because an ugly and weak omega is not your mate anymore.”
The expression on Ian’s face changed when he heard her words. He realized Ava was reminding him of what he had said to her before rejecting her.
He clenched his jaw because he no longer wanted to play the good boy role in front of her.
It was true. He was trying to be a good and calm boy in front of her. He was trying to keep his patience with her. But now, he wanted to show her his true self. 2
It was his fault that he had rejected her. However, he was now regretting it.
He moved back to his seat and ran his fingers through his hair.
“Ava”
“Ian, I don’t want to listen to you. Thank you for driving me back home. Let’s not talk to each other from tomorrow.”
After saying that, Ava inhaled deeply. She waited for him to unlock the doors.
Upon noticing his complete stillness and silence, she gave him a quick look and uttered,
“I don’t want to have anything to do with you.”
He turned to face her and asked,
“If I say I regret rejecting you, will you-”
She cut him off and asked,
“Do I look foolish to you?”
His brow furrows in response to her question. He knew there was no way she would believe him.
When he leaned in, Ava felt her heart race.
“W–what are you doing?” she stuttered.
His gaze lingered on her face. He grabbed the door and asked,
“I want you to stay away from Luke and all the boys who want to get close to you.”
“I will not listen to you. It’s my life, my chofce.”
“And your choice should be me, Ian Dawson,” he muttered.
She was caught off guard. His name came out of his mouth with such a deep tone, it sounded different.
She gulped as she looked into his eyes. They turned dark.

“W–What do you mean?”
His gaze dipped and shifted on her lips.
“I don’t want to lie to you anymore. I want you. And I am not kidding with you. I am damn serious.”
Ava blinked, unable to believe what she had heard.
If he had said that before the rejection, she would have fallen head over heels for him. But now it was too late.
In her eyes, he was a person who did not value her.
Ava lifted her hand and placed it on his shoulder to stop him from moving closer. He glanced at her hand before returning his gaze to her.
“Do you think everything is a game? You rejected me as your mate. Do you know what this means? You rejected your fate. It was not a relationship where you can break anytime you want. You broke me brutally. You hurt me so deeply that I will never be able to recover.”
Ian’s gaze paused as his brows arched. “What can I do to make you feel better?”
He spoke softly as if stroking her with his alluring tone.
However, she was no longer the same Ava who was in love with him.
“If you want to make me feel better, then stay away from me. Your presence bothers me,” she mumbled, moving
7 her hand toward his chest.
He closed his eyes as if he were feeling her touch.
“What if I say that I want to bother you until I will make you mine?”
Her hand froze on his chest. She swallowed her breath and tried to remove her hand from his chest.
But he grabbed her hand and pressed it against his chest once again.
“I know you want me too. I can see that. Why are you resisting yourself?”
Ava looked away from him. She did not know if he could hear her loud heartbeats. She tried to calm her heart.
She yanked her hand away from his grip and replied,
“You are wrong. I don’t want you. Now unlock the door before I-”
Ian unlocked the doors before she could finish her sentence.

“Go. You don’t have to kill me for not unlocking the car door. But let me tell you something: one day, I will lock you in this car. That time, I will not let you go.” (2
After saying that, he winked at her.
He had a smirk on his face as if he had been granted the right to be himself.
When Ava realized what he had just meant, she nearly choked on her own breath.
“Shameless!”
She muttered and rushed out of the car.
She started to walk hurriedly toward the door of her house. She looked around at the other cars and spotted Gamma Harper’s car there. She realized that he and her mother had come back.

She heard lan’s loud voice from behind, which caused her to pause her steps.
“You ignited a fire inside me when you said you don’t want me, Nerd.”
She turned her head to glance at him. She saw that he was out of the car, leaning against the door.
“You see everything as a game,” she replied.
He chuckled at her before folding his arms against his chest, causing his muscles to bulge.
“Why don’t you come and play this game with me? Let’s see who caves in.”
me?
Ava gave her a stern look, letting him know how much she hated him.
He shifted his eyes from her face to her dress and said,
“I forgot to tell you. You look hot today. I hope the next time you dress up like this, only for me.”
She listened to him with her jaw clenched. His words had made her angry with him. He was doing all of this just to tease her.
She stomped her feet on the ground in rage and turned around. She made her way to her house’s door while muttering,
‘Go to hell.”
