Ava averted her gaze away from Ian and focused on Nova. She could see Nova looking angry at her.
But was it her fault?
Ava let out a sigh and turned to Abigail.
“Let’s sit already. We have wasted our time enough with these people. We have classes to attend, too.”
Nova stomped her leg on the ground in rage and left the cafeteria, crying. Her friends left behind her.
Ian’s eyes were on Ava. He noticed her sitting in the chair with her friend. Her friend was giving her a glance. By seeing how she was giving him a look, it was obvious that her friend did not like him much.
Everyone returned back to what they were doing. But they got the biggest breaking news of the year.
Ian Dawson was single again. Since he was in a relationship before, it was possible that anyone could get the change this time.
They believed he was just roaming around with Ava since Nova said she had seen him with Ava last night. They did not think Ava could keep Ian’s interest in her for a long time.
Girls glanced at him with smiles. Some of them blushed just by looking at his attractive profile.
Ava was aware of everything that was going on around her.
Abigail frowned at Ian and leaned close to Ava.
“Why is he still around? And what was Nova saying? You were with him last night?”
Ava gave Abigail a pat on the hand. She shook her head and murmured,
“I will tell you about it later.”
Abigail had grown impatient. She lifted her head and gazed at Ian.
“What are you doing here, Ian? Can we have some personal space, please? At the very least, let my friend breathe. Didn’t you see how your ex–girlfriend was trying to insult her?”
Ian gave her a bored look. Then he shifted his gaze at Ava and approached her.
Ava fixed her gaze on the table as she listened to Abigail.
Howeyer, when she sensed Ian approaching, she raised her head.
Ian came to a stop beside her and looked down at her. Putting his other hand on the back of her chair, he placed his palm on the table in front of her.
He bent over to reach for her.
She was stunned by his action.
He leaned close to her. Everyone turned their heads at them again.
Abigail looked at them with shocked eyes.
“W–What are you doing?” Abigail said to Ian when she glanced at Ava and saw how shocked she was.
Ian did not glance at Abigail. He looked into Ava’s eyes and asked,

“I watched the video where Luke said he likes you.”
Ava blinked her eyes, not knowing what was in his mind.
lan’s gaze moved on her face. Her expression caused him to chuckle.
He was mad before. But after watching her like this, he thought she was cute. Her innocent expression lessened her rage.
He stood up straight and rested his hand on her head, Ava closed her eyes briefly before opening them again.
Ian patted her head with his tattooed hand.
The girls‘ jaws dropped when they saw how softly he interacted with her. It was a sweet gesture from a boy to a girl.
They were already stunned when they heard Ian’s words, but his actions made them feel unbelievable.
“Your expression conveys that you gave him hope. I hope you did not forget what I told you last night.”
Ava removed his hand away from her head and glanced at others who were staring at her.
“What is with this new acting? J–Just leave.”
She was unable to control her tone in the end. It was because her heart was racing faster. He always moved closer to her, as if he did not need her permission to touch her.
Ian stepped back without breaking eye contact.
Everyone widened their eyes when Ian said the next word.
“You caught the future Alpha’s eyes, Nerd,” he said loudly while stepping back.
Everyone let out gasps. Everyone in the cafeteria started talking about it in hushed tones. Girls looked in the direction of Ava and felt envious.
Abigail was too shocked to react. It was the first time Ian had said something like this to someone.
Was he trying to play with Ava?
She held Ava’s hand and uttered,
“Babe, are you okay?”
It was as if Ava came out of a spellbound that Ian had created, she broke eye contact with him.
The atmosphere in the cafeteria became heated. Everything seemed to be disoriented. The sound of people’s voices reached Ava’s ears.
She saw Ian grinning at her; he turned around and left the cafeteria.
She held her head and groaned.
“Ava?”
She heard Abigail’s voice. She turned to Abigail and replied,
“I am not okay, Abi. I am messed up.”
She then told Abigail everything that had happened last night.

Abigail’s face was filled with shock. Ian’s actions and words were unbelievable.
“I can not believe this! He said he wants you. What exactly is he looking for? What did he mean by that?” Abigail asked.
Ava lowered her head. “I don’t know. I think he thought he could make me a fool.” T
Abigail reflected for a moment. She remembered Ian telling others that he would never go after another girl.
She rubbed her forehead, convinced her best friend was in danger.
They exited the cafeteria, heading to their classes. Ava’s thoughts were still on what had happened in the cafeteria. “What about Luke, Ava?” Abigail asked Ava as her gaze fell on Luke, who was coming in their direction.
Ava turned her head and noticed Luke. She let out a deep breath.
“I will talk to him.‘
“About what?”
Abigail assumed Ava would reject Luke because she appeared to be confused with her heart.
But Abigail was taken aback when she heard Ava,
“I like Luke. I took time from him, but now I think I should start dating him. I don’t want Ian messing up my life again.” (3
Abigail was about to tell Ava not to do anything in a rush. But before that, Ava walked toward Luke to stop him in the middle of the way.
She looked at Luke and said,
“Luke, let’s date.” (1
