Ian was at his home. He did not attend university today because his friends had planned to go somewhere together.
Sitting on the floor, resting on the edge of the bed, he threw the ball to the wall, which returned to him the next moment. He wore a sleeveless black t–shirt. Whenever he moved his hand, his muscles moved with it.
“Ian, you-”
His mother, Carolina Dawson, paused at the door.
She noticed her son was focused on the ball. Though his sharp eyes were on the ball, he looked into some other thoughts.
She stepped into the room and walked toward the bed with slow steps. She sat down on the edge of the bed, where he was leaning back.
“Ian.”
Ian grabbed the ball tightly when he heard his mother. He turned his head to look at his mother.
“Mom.”
Carolina stared at her son. Ian had become more calm over the last few days. Her son was not like that. Though she and Alpha Martin always tried to discipline him, it did not mean she expected him to lose himself.
He did not change himself but instead became silent. As if something was bothering him. She feared that something had shattered her son’s heart.
Carolina reached out and ruffled his hair. “Ian, my son. What happened to you suddenly?”
Ian raised his brows and asked,
“What happened to me? Nothing.”
Carolina was taken aback by his calm, composed tone of voice. It indicated that he was upset.
She removed her hand from his head and placed it on his shoulder.
She pointed her finger to his muscles and said,
“Did someone break my strong son’s heart? Tell me. Have you scared anyone with these muscles, tattoos, and piercings?” 1
Ian could not help but laugh. He realized his mother was trying to cheer him up.
He smiled at his mother. He leaned into her lap and rested his head.
“Mom?”
“Hmmm?” Carolina asked, moving his fingers on his soft locks.
“Mom, am I too bad?”
Carolina paused her hand and tilted her head to look at him.
“Wait a minute! Are you saying this? I can’t believe it.”
Ian closed his eyes on his mother’s lap.
Carolina continued to play with his hair. “Why is it giving me the feeling that someone taught my son a lesson

that we couldn’t teach his even after so much scolding?”
Ian listened to her without etting out anything. He felt like was missing his mother’s soft tone and caring
touches.
He did not know when he drew a line between himself and His parents that he could not share anything, with them. His father was exempt since he was strict to him, but Tan did the same with his mother as well.
“Mom, what if I say I did something really bad and now I am regretting it? Do you think that I can be forgiven?”
“Hmmm. Well, that depends on what you have done. Is it something that really hurts someone? Like it left a scar on their hearts and they could never forget it?”
Ian’s eyes flung open. He thought of Ava and tried to connect his mother’s words to her.
Did he deeply hurt Ava by rejecting her, leaving a wound in her heart?
He indeed insulted her throughout the university and humiliated her a few other times. He regretted everything,
In the last few days, he only thought about her and realized that he liked her very much. It was not something physical, but rather something close to his heart. In fact, his wolf also desired her.
“Ian?”
“Yes, Mom.”
“Are you in love?”
His mother’s question froze him. He blinked his eyes and slowly raised his head from her lap.
He glanced at his mother, trying to understand her question.
Love was a big thing. He had never considered it. He believed he liked Ava and wanted to be with her. He had no idea about their future, nor did he consider it in his mind.
Despite this, he felt possessive whenever he got close to other boys. He even felt it when he first saw her with Stephen. Luke was someone he hated because he was with her.
“Love?” he muttered in a low tone.
Carolina looked at him closely and said,
“If you feel that you can’t see a girl with someone else except you, but at the same time you can let her do that for her happiness, then that’s called love.”
Ian’s heart was shaken a little. Wasn’t this what he had been doing for the past few days? He left Ava to be with Luke because she wanted to be with that boy.
Looking at his puzzled expression, Carolina smiled at her son.
She cupped his cheeks and kissed his forehead.
“My baby, if you love someone, you can go for her. Just don’t play with her, and always be loyal to her. A playboy attitude may attract escorts, but a dignified woman would only want your loyalty. So if only you are ready to change yourself, you can have her. Tell her what’s in your heart and make her believe that you are only her man.”
Ian stared at his mother for a while in silence until a ringtone caused him to look away.
He got on his feet and grabbed his phone from the nightstand.
It was Ronald’s call. He received the call, and Ronald told him that they were all outside the pack house.

Ian hung up the phone and turned to his mother.
Carolina got up and smiled at him. Jan hugged her.

“Thanks, Mom. You said a lot of things today. I will keep them in my mind.”
Carolina patted his back and wished him all the best. She did not ask anything else, as if giving him personal space.
Ian grabbed his black jacket and left the house. He saw his friends sitting on their bikes.
His eyes fell on Stephen, but he did not say anything to him
However, Stephen got off the bike and approached him.
“Ian.”
Ian gave him a look but did not greet him.
Ian assumed that Stephen would tell him about staying away from his sister again.
But Stephen surprised him when he pulled him in a hug.
“I am sorry, buddy. I should have ended the fight that night. It took me so long to hug my friend.”
