Chapter 6 Conference
It was the team’s lucky day. They found a lot of beast cores to power up their Abilities with, and they found ice crystals as well as the whole warehouse’s supplies. Naturally, they chucked everything into the vehicles.
Shawn gave me an earnest look. “Don’t use that good luck power of yours if you can help it. Humanity has a very dark side to it, especially in times like this.”
I was stunned. This was the first time someone gave me such serious advice. Shawn obviously had some idea where their good luck came from.
We ran into a certain group of people on our way back. Joshua and his team. Joshua was looking at me with enough flames in his eyes to probably turn this icy apocalypse into a fiery one. “Come here, Sera.”
I rolled my eyes. “Sorry, who are you again?”
“I’ll forgive you for leaving us for dead in the cave, but I’ll say this one last time. Come here!” He had an expression as black as thunder.
Shawn arched an eyebrow. “Get your eyes checked, bro. Sera’s part of Dawnlight now.”
“Do you know what happens to people who betray the base?”
“Oh, I know how betrayal feels, Joshua. You guys did it to me first!” I laughed mirthlessly. “Are you seriously that daft, or do you just have no shame?” I couldn’t believe Joshua’s
audacity.
Furious, Joshua came up to us, but then a jet of blood came flying out of his mouth. A smile curled my lips. He must’ve failed to keep his grubby hands to himself if he was hurt this badly. Then, I looked around. No sign of Irene.
Joshua failed to get me back, and they were outnumbered, so they left, but not without much huffing and puffing.

Shawn turned to me. “We’ll be having a conference in three days. Perfect time to embarrass Mystic Tiger.”
I nodded. Joshua cared about power? Then, I would destroy it. That would hit him where it hurt most. I made him and his team the top squad, and I could strip it away from him.
The conference came three days later. It was where all the bases would flex their muscles and fight for power. An important event, so to speak.
Joshua was Mystic Tiger’s representative. Looking at us, he sneered. He seemed confident about getting the top spot this time.
The conference began, and Joshua couldn’t wait to express himself. “We shall be releasing the healing elixir. This elixir can quickly heal any metahuman’s frostbite. I’m sure you know how important that is.”
“Really?”
“Frostbite is the worst thing that could happen to anyone. If we have that elixir, we have nothing to fear anymore.”
“And frostbite is an irreversible condition for metahumans. Every time they try to power up their Abilities, frostbite would get in their way, and they’d have to pay dearly just to level up.”
“Yeah, if we can have that elixir…”
“What’s your price, Captain Frost?”
“No wonder Mystic Tiger is the number one base.”
Praises wouldn’t stop coming. After all, this was a bombshell for the bases‘ top brass.
Then, Shawn’s snicker silenced everyone, and their attention turned to him. Joshua

shrugged it off. He didn’t care about the opinion of a loser.
I took the chance to raise my hand. “But our sources told me that Mystic Tiger has no Healers. The only one is gone, isn’t she?”

“That’s nonsense!” one of Joshua’s sycophants retorted. “Our Healer, Irene Shaw, made this elixir! She’s inside our base!”
“Really? But I thought you stripped me of my Ability, gave it to her, and then stripped her of that Ability as
well.”
