Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Mi’s POV
I stood at the window, gazing out at the city’s skyline. The strong smell of espresso and vanilla filled my office and the view of the city from my position gave me a rush of adrenaline. A sense of power.
“Here you go. Miss Walton.” Kendra handed me a cup of coffee.
“Have the gifts been sorted out?” I asked, stepping away from the window while taking a sip of my coffee.
Half
If of them have. Just today we received another can from the Millers. Her son. Lucas, insisted on bringing it to you himself, but you were away, and he couldn’t wait so he left you a note.”
At the mention of his name, a rush of irritation surged through me. That pervert!
“I’m never available to meet him, make sure to let him know that whenever he shows up.”
“Yes, ma’am. The note?” She held up a sealed envelope.
In the trash, came my curt reply.
I walked to my desk, kicking off my heels and sealing for flats. My legs were still sore from yesterday but the pain was worth it
We didn’t need a lot of investors but many business owners were eager to throw their money at Amor Luxe even before its launch. Many of them fancied the concept and saw the company’s potential, while the rest, who I recognized as business rivals of Schaeffer’s group, joined in to get back at Xander in their little way.
Individually, they stood no chance against Xander, who was notorious for outmaneuvering his adversaries,
He detested being double–crossed, and that was precisely how I had initiated my revenge – by fueling the very thing he despised.
Amor Luxe secured numerous deals and collaborations at its launch, but what caught my attention was that several of these brands were also partners with Schaeffer’s group.
“Yesterday’s event is on the headlines today, and so far, the videos have accumulated millions of views,” Kendra filled me in. “Since the reveal, you have been trending on almost every social media platform and the bidding price keeps going up.”
A smile formed on my lips, success was such a breath of fresh air.
Kendra handed me a tablet and I scrolled through the news to the comments, mostly singing praises for me. As expected, there were a few negative ones, and if I didn’t know Xander’s method well enough, I would have cheaply guessed that he was responsible.
Xander’s typical method was to first negotiate a peaceful retreat. If that failed, he would resort to aggressive tactics. He would infiltrate the social events of his rivals, win over their investors and shareholders with mouthwatering offers, and then systematically dismantle not only the aspects that threatened him but also the affiliated companies. This strategy had always proven successful and I was well aware of it, but unlike the others, I was fully prepared.
In my case, the peace treaty had failed so now he was going to attack.
Kendra went on, “Our st
– stocks are in high demand, and you have about six interviews to prepare for this week.”
“Six?” I arched a brow at her.
“Actually, more. Mr. Walion had us decline the others”
I could hug Nathan for that, I already had a ton of work to do and just the thought of it was exhausting.
Speaking of the devil, my office door slid open and Nathan walked in.
“Good time?” He asked.
“Of course, come in. I dismissed Kendra and offered him a seat.
“Everything okay?”
“Leila called,” he started, “Xander is suspicious. He isn’t buying the memory loss thing and there is a possibility that he’s looking into it already”
Chapter 15
Good, Xander was playing his cards exactly as I predicted.
“As expected. There is only one thing that can convince him. A fact.”
Nathan leaned in. “Your diagnosis from the hospital?”
I nodded, “Trene will likely investigate as well. To avoid raising more suspicion, we should provide them with the information they’re seeking. It’s only a matter of time before Xander becomes curious about my survival and he would want to confirm if I truly lost the pregnancy. By giving him the answers he’s looking for, we can downplay his curiosity”
“What if he confronts you?”
I gulped. “He would be exposing himself if he did that, wouldn’t he?”
Nathan nodded, gazing at me with concern.
I knew what it meant; it was dangerous to be around Xander, but I wasn’t scared of him anymore. What more could he do to shock me! I started this revenge, and I won’t stop until the Schaeffers fall to the ground.
When I asked Xander to describe our marriage, I didn’t expect his honesty. He had openly admitted to his crime without even knowing
but that wasn’t what I was here for.
Xander killed my babies, and I was going to kill him with my own hands slowly and painfully.
“Dad wants to have dinner together. Should I pick you up at seven?”
“Seven is time,” I smiled at him.
After Nathan left, my phone buzzed on my desk. The caller ID was unrecognizable.
“Hey, girl” Her made–up squeal from the other end pierced my ears
“Who?”
“Irene
“Oh, hi, Irene,” I tried to sound as excited. “Why did you call?*
“I know you said your schedule is tight and all but I just can’t help my excitement after meeting you again. I want to throw a little welcome party for you, just a small gathering with a few mutual friends. Do you think you’ll be available for the planning?”
“That’s really sweet of you, Irene,” I giggled, “but as you already know, my schedule is a mess. So it won’t be possible to meet with you anytime soon
“Oh her excitement dwindled. “I understand.”
I tore the phone from my ear and started to disconnect the call when an idea struck me,
“You know what, I think I can make some time for you in between. Why don’t you come over!”
“You want me to come over to your place?” Her tone was laced with skepticism and I figured out why in an instant.
“Absolutely, I can work from home and also hang out with you.”
“D–do you stay alone?”
From her tone, I suspected two reasons for the question. Either she wanted to know if we would be all alone so she could make another attempt on my life, this time with the intention of succeeding, or she was curious about her lust–interest being there.
The first one was out of the question because I had a thousand other ways to kill her first, and I wasn’t the naive, stupid Mia anymore, so I those the latter, which further confirmed my earlier thought of Irene having feelings for Adrian. Now was the perfect time to exploit that vulnerability.
“Yes, Irene. I’ll text you the address and time.”
After the call, I leaned back and savored my coffee. At our upcoming meeting, Irene would be in for a surprise, but it wouldn’t be coming from me- it would be courtesy of Adrian. If Irene made a move on him, my plan would fall into place.
With proof of her affair with Adrian, I would drive a wedge between Irene and Xander, as well as her relationship with the Schaeffer family.

Separately, it would be much easier to ruin the people who had collectively ruined my life.
