Chapter 100
“So!” I retorted, refusing to stand down. “I’m a girl and I have needs. Just because we’re friends doesn’t give you the right to dictate who I can and cannot fuck.”
His eyes darkened at my response and I felt my cheeks heat up as he leaned in even closer. “If you want to get fucked, all you had to do is ask.”
My face heated up in a matter of second. He did not just say what I think he did.
I didn’t have a chance to give Aiden a comeback, not that I really trusted myself to say anything really, because we were interrupted by a booming voice down the hall. “Where is she?”
I watched Aiden take a visible deep breath before taking a few steps back and giving his full attention to the man coming down the hall. He was a little over dressed for the hospital if you ask me, in a navy blue suit and tie that screamed expensive. In one hand he was holding a black leather portfolio, while in the other he had his phone.
The poor guy was clearly in distress as he stalked his way to where Aiden and I were. “Where is she?” He once again asks, slightly out of breath.
“The doctors are examining her right now.” Aiden glares at him.
At the same time, a tall man in his late fifties also comes carrying a very cheery Mia in his arms. I had seen him in some of the photos scattered around Aiden’s house, so I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that this is his step–father. Ella always referred to him as dad and to Grace by her name – just like Aiden always called Grace mom but never spoke of his dad, so it didn’t take a genius to figure out their family dynamic.
As soon as Mia spots me, she immediately begins to wiggle in her grandfather’s grasp – begging to be set down. “Natty!” She squeals as she runs towards me.
My heart melted when I saw her. She had on a pair of black leggings, a light brown Shepard jacked with a teddy bear rucksack she was carrying on her shoulders. As if that wasn’t adorable enough, the mini UGG boots and white knitted beanie with a pom–pom definitely set her over the top.
Scooping down to pick her up in my arms, she clutched to me and wrapped her tiny arms around my neck in a hug. That’s it, I’m kidnapping her and taking her home – Ella has enough kids.
While my main focus was on Mia, Aiden and his step father appeared to be in a heated hush hush

discussion with the Suit from earlier. From the looks of it, Aiden was ready to pounce on the Suit any moment now, but he settled for pointing an accusatory finger at him instead.
As Mia was telling me how excited she is to meet her new baby sister, I saw Aiden’s step–father step between him and the Suit. Aiden gave the Suit one last glare, “That must have been one hell of a meeting to miss the birth of your daughter – not to mention your wife nearly dying!”
Miss the birth of his daughter?
Don’t tell me that the Suit is Jake – Ella’s Jake?
Despite seething with anger, Aiden did a good job of masking it as he came over to where I had Mia on my lap and scooped her up in his arms. “I’ve missed you munchkin.” He said engulfing her in a bear hug and spinning her around.
My poor heart really can’t handle this – God, why must you torture me.
Claire Marie Taylor was born weighing 71b 7oz, and she was just a big bundle of joy. Aiden had to pry her out of my arms so that Ella could breastfeed her.
Speaking of Ella, by the time I got to see her, she was being her usual sarcastic self with a side of bitchiness directed specifically towards Jake.
Looks like someone was in the doghouse, I thought. If I were her, I would’ve kicked him out of the room but to each their own.
I could tell you one person who wasn’t going to be forgiving Jake anytime soon and that was Aiden. In fact, the entire time that we were in Ella’s room, he kept shooting daggers at Jake. By the end of the night, I was starting to feel a little bad for the guy, but not a lot.
After a while, having felt I overstayed my welcome, I asked Aiden to take me home.
In the car, the two of us were sitting in silence until it was interrupted by his phone ringing. My eyes inadvertently flashed to the caller ID which read Dad. As Aiden declined the call, it began ringing a second time. “Aren’t you going to get that?” I asked curiously.
Aiden shook his head, keeping his eyes trained on the road.
“It could be important.” I trailed off.

He snorted in reply. “Trust me, it’s not. The only time my father calls is to tell me how much of
disappointment I am to him and how I’m wasting my potential.”
