Chapter 102
“It’s okay baby,” I cooed down at Claire who was screaming her lungs out. She was fed, cleaned, and changed so there was no logical reason for her to be this fussy- yet here we are!
Ella was upstairs giving the boys a bath because they decided it was a good idea to grab the jar of Nutella off the kitchen counter and smear themselves in it because it “looked like mud.” The look on Ella’s face when they came running down the stairs in nothing but their underwear and completely covered in chocolate was hilarious. however, I’m pretty sure she was close to popping an artery at the same time.
The whole Nutella incident is almost as bad as when I went looking for them earlier because the house was too quiet and I found them in Jake’s home office. William had turned the swivel chair into a carnival ride by pushing it against the wall, climbing on top of it and using the wall for support to spin. The entire time, David was just sitting on top of his father’s desk eating a lollipop.
Jake was also home, and apparently has been since Claire was born. He had decided to take a step back from his responsibilities at work to dedicate more time to his family. It’s the least he could do after missing Claire’s birth if you ask me.
His secretary also went bye–bye the very next day when Grace went down there and literally dragged her out of the building after Jake fired her. Now that, is something I would have paid money to see. You know what they say, never
mess with a mama bear.
About the same time that the boys put on a show for us, Mia had taken Jake hostage to have a tea party with her, so it was just me and Claire making laps around the living room. As soon as I would stop moving, she would scream even ⚫ louder. I don’t know if this was her way of telling me that extra holiday weight was noticeable, but I wasn’t too
impressed with her right now.
When the doorbell rang, I’m surprised I heard it. I padded my way to the front door and swung it open, only to see Aiden covered in snow and holding a Whole Foods bag in one hand. “What are you doing here?” He asked when he
saw me.
“I could ask you the same thing.” I replied, taking the bag from him so he could take his jacket and shoes off. I’m pretty sure Ella would murder him if he got snow all over her white floors.
“It’s my sister’s house.” He teased. Instead of taking the bag he previously handed me out of my hands, he went for the baby instead.
“Hi baby.” He cooed down at Claire as he fluttered her cheeks with kisses. To make matters worse, the little traitor stopped crying when Aiden took her out of my arms.
Ella chose that exact moment to peak her head over the banister on the second floor. “Did someone ring the doorbell.”
“Yes, someone did.” I gave her a tight smile. “Your lovely brother is here!”
“Oh good!” She shouted making her way down the stairs, a sly smirk on her face. “Did you bring it?”

Chapter 102
Aiden rolls his eyes and nods. “Was it really necessary for me to risk my life in this weather to get you that dams ie
cream.”
“Yes” She grins taking the Whole Foods bag from me which prefably holds the ice cream, and bounding towards
the kitchen. “Yes, it was!”
I quickly followed after her. “Stop trying to play matchmaker! Thiss at her.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Scarlett She flashes me an overly sweet smile which only earns her an eye roll. Every chance she gets, Ella will pester me about Aiden this, Alden that.
“Really?” I challenged. “Cause it looks to me like you have plenty of ice cream in there. 1 gesture to the now open freezer that has at least five different kinds of ice cream inside.
“Oh would you look at that,” she quickly darts out of the kitchen. “The boys should be done with their hath by now!
“Ella!” I shout after her but it’s no use because she’s already gone.
Since Aiden still had baby Claire and has made no indication of wanting to give her back, I took this as an opportunity to clean up the kitchen which currently looked like a warzone.
A while back, while I was scrolling through Facebook, I saw a recipe for Confetti and Sprinkled cookies on Tasty that I thought would be a cute and fun activity to do with the kids. Today seemed a good day as any to try it out since we were all stuck indoors. Looking back on it now, I wish I never saw that video.
Mia was of course, the perfect child, and only did what I told her to. The boys on the other hand, thought it was cool throw sprinkles at their sister – and at each other while I had my back to them, and now there are sprinkles on literally every surface and appliance in the kitchen.
How Ella didn’t throw a basket case when she saw it, still amazes me.
