Chapter 123
She hummed in agreement before coming to stand in front of me. “Mani–pedi or movies?” In one hand she was holding an LED Lamps, while in the other a bottle of red OPI nail polish.
“You think I have enough energy to do my nails right now?” I cocked a brow at her.
“Movie it is then!”
About halfway through Legally Blonde, Ella turned to me with a mischievous grin. “I don’t know about you Scarlett, but I’m starving.”
Then she shouted, “AIDEN!”
All this girl needed was a bell!
A few minutes later, Aiden poked his head into the basement from the top of the stairs.
“What?”
“Scarlett and I are hungry.” She declared.
“And?” He rolled his eyes, visibly annoyed.
“First of all, cut the attitude.” She narrowed her eyes at him. “Second of all, go pick us up
some food.”
He just looked at her blankly. “Chop–chop!” She waved him off, when he made no motion to
move.
“You might want to try a bit of lavender under your pillow tonight. It does wonders for psychotic behavior.” Aiden bit back from the top of the stairs, a hint of amusement in his
voice.
Oh boy.
“I’ll tell Grandma you said that the next time she calls.” Ella smirked. I saw Aiden’s face turn an unusual shade of pale before he scrambled away, no doubt to actually go get us food. Meanwhile, I was trying really hard to contain my laughter.

Chapter 123
Once Aiden was out of earshot, Ella turned to me and grinned. “Works every time. I swear
that boy is terrified of her!”
“I met her a few months ago.” I replied. “She’s really nice, and it seems like she loves Aiden
a lot.”
“Oh, she does!” Ella snorted. “More than any of us. Hell – more than her own son I think. But that doesn’t mean she’s not the hardest on him. You see, Aiden can be a total dick when he wants to be, and Grandma Amy is always there to remind him that he needs to treat girls with the respect because they’re not just toys for him to play with.”
She shook her head before continuing. “I swear, my dad and Grace’s house used to be a whorehouse before you came along.” When Ella saw my reaction, she quickly added, “He doesn’t do that anymore, obviously!”
I’m guessing she didn’t know about Victoria a few months ago.
I haven’t seen her, or any girl for that matter, at his house since then but for some reason I couldn’t help but wonder if I was just another one of the girls on a list – passing through.
“Oh gosh! Me and my big mouth!” Ella’s hand shot to her mouth as she gave me a sympathetic look. “I didn’t mean it like that. Aiden really cares about you!”
“It’s fine!” I reassured her.
After a few more minutes in silence of watching Elle Woods be a totally badass, Ella once again broke the silence. “Have you decided what you’re going to do about… that thing?”
“What thing?” I asked confused.
“Your… sperm donor.” She scrunched up her nose in disgust as if the mere mention of it left a bitter taste in her mouth.
“No.” I groaned in frustration as I leaned my head back. “I’ve been trying to avoid it.” And I had been successful thus far. After Mom gave me his number, I tossed it on my desk and avoided it like the fucking plague since then.
“I cannot believe he had the balls to just show up.” Ella continued bitterly.
“You and me both.” I nodded in agreement.

“Whatever you decide, I support you 100%.” She reached across and gave a side hug. Now, I’m typically not a very affectionate person. I don’t really like people hugging me, but there was something comforting about Ella’s presence.
“I’ve always wanted a little sister I could corrupt.” She nudge me playfully. “Instead I got stuck with dumb–dumb up there!.”
“He’s not so bad.” I smiled.
“Hmm.” She smirked. “Are you two still claiming to be just friends?”
“I’m not claiming anything!” I defended. “We are friends!”
“Well shit.” Ella snorted. “If I kissed my friends the way you kiss Aiden, maybe more of
them would have stuck around.”
“ELLA!” I gasped.
How the hell did she know about that?
Noticing the questioning look on my face she said, “A lady never tells!”
It was a little past eight when I finally got home that night.
“I’m home!” I announced taking my shoes off and hanging up my keys. Mom and Anthony
were cuddled up on the couch watching a movie on TV so quickly excused myself and
went to my room.
They were cute and all, but I didn’t want to intrude on their privacy.
Changing out of my clothes into a pair of pajama bottoms and an oversized t–shirt, I plopped in bed and took my phone out. I had one unread message.
Aiden: I cannot believe you left me here!
Back at Ella’s, when I told him I was leaving, Aiden was such a big baby about it. He begged me to stay so that he wouldn’t be left alone with his psychotic sister – his words not mine!
