Chapter 131
Walking out of my room, I found mom in the kitchen rubbing sleep out of her eyes as she
put the coffee pot on. “Good morning, honey.” She smiled.
“Morning, mom.” I eyed the coffee pot with envy. I wasn’t allowed to have any, this
morning.
Walking out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around me and my wet hair hanging lose on my back, I came to an abrupt stop at the scene before me. “What the hell are you doing here? It’s 5 am.”
“Good morning to you too.” Aiden smirked at me as his eyes traveled up my legs and to my face. My face heated up in embarrassment when I caught my mom’s no so subtle fake cough.
Oh god, my mother is right there!
I quickly rushed to my room and slipped on a pair of black sweat pants with a white shirt
and black hoodie.
I’m going to the hospital, not a fucking fashion show.
Once I emerged from my room, fully clothed this time, I found Aiden and my mom chatting like old buddies. Eying the two of them suspiciously I asked, “What’s going on here?”
“Nothing, sweetie.” Mom replied, taking a sip from her mug. “Are you all ready to go?”
Once I nodded, she went to her room to finish getting ready. I took this as an opportunity to turn to Aiden who was sitting a little too comfortably on my kitchen stool! Slapping him on the arm, he looked at me incredulously. “What?” He hissed, massaging the area where I hit
him.
“First of all, I know that didn’t hurt so stop being a baby!” I rolled my eyes as I leaned against the counter. “Second of all, what are you doing here?”
“I’m going with you.” He replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“You have school.”
“And?”
“And you have to go to school.”
“No.” He stood up and took hold of my hands, intertwining our fingers. “I’m going with you –
end of discussion.”
“But –”
“Are you kids ready?” Mom asked as she grabbed her purse and slipped on her shoes.
“Yes.” Aiden replied for me as he pulled me towards the door.
Mom thought she was sly when she suggested I ride with Aiden because her car was really cluttered and messy, but I could see right through her innocent smile.
When mom told me last night that she was taking the day off today, I tried to reassure her that wasn’t necessary and that she could just come visit me after work. Of course she refused to listen, so here we are today. It’s pointless – both her and Aiden making such a big
fuss – because I wasn’t the one dying, but oh well.
The car ride with Aiden was surprisingly comforting. There was something about his
presence and his mere touch that I found to be relaxing. When we got to the hospital, we
checked in and I dropped off the paperwork that Dr. Timothy had given me on Monday. Not
even ten minutes later, a nurse came out and took me to a room to prep
With one final glance at my mom and Aiden, Aiden squeeze my hand and gave me a reassuring smile before he reluctantly let go and allowed me to follow the nurse.
At exactly 9 am sharp, I was wheeled into the dim operating room. My heart was all of a sudden beating out of my chest, and I became hyper aware of all the doctors and nurses in
the room.
“Good morning, Scarlett.” I recognized Dr. Timothy’s voice under one of the masks.
“Hi.” I mumbled as the various nurses and doctors continued to move around me. My eyes
idly glanced at the equipment they had, specifically the needles.

The very large needles.
Then, someone above me got my attention. “I’m Dr. Madison, I’ll be your anesthesiologist
today.”
“We’re ready to begin.” Dr. Timothy informed everyone from somewhere in the back of the
room.
“Count backwards from a hundred, Scarlett.” The woman above me said as she brought a
breathing mask up to my face.

Aiden POV
Watching her figure retreat down the dull and empty hospital corridor, it took everything in
me not to go after her. I looked down at Olivia who was standing next to me, her face just as
concerned as mine. “She’ll be okay, sweetheart.” She tried giving me a reassuring smile, but
I saw right through it.
“Yeah… you’re right.” I replied running a hand through my hair as I took a seat in one of the
uncomfortable green waiting room chairs.
When Scarlett finally told me everything – her dad coming back, him asking her to donate – I had to restrain myself from finding the bastard and bashing his face in with my fist. She kept telling everyone that it was fine, and that it wasn’t a big deal but I saw right through the brave face she was trying to put on. I saw how hurt she was by her father coming back
into the picture.
