Chapter 144
“What am I talking about?” I asked, my voice laced with disbelief. I shoved the Stanford and Northwestern envelopes at him before I continued, “THIS!”
“Oh.” Was all he said as realization took over.
“Oh is right!” I replied, still hysterical. “I specifically told you I didn’t want to apply to either of these places!”
“I kn –”
“And what do you do? You completely disregard my wishes and did exactly what I specifically told you NOT to do.”
“And how the hell did you even get into my laptop to do this?” I narrowed my eyes at him.
I had a password on the damn thing for a reason. Granted, my password was my name and
favorite number but still!
“Calm down Nat.” Aiden took a few cautious steps towards me, but I soon as he was within
arm’s reach I reached out and smacked his shoulder.
“DO NOT TRY TO HANDLE ME RIGHT NOW.” I shrieked.
“Dude – there’s a time to lie, a time to apologize and a time to keep your mouth shut.” Lucas said from the entryway. I completely forgot he was still here. “That was definitely a keep
your mouth shut time.”
“You are so NOT helping.” Aiden glared at him.
“Look babe –” Aiden started as he reached out for my hand. “I know you’re mad bu –”
“Mad doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel right now.” I exclaimed, stepping back from him. “I am pissed. I am enraged. I am li –”
“I think I get it.” Aiden rolled his eyes.
Oh lord help me! Please tell me this boy did not just roll his eyes at me.

Chapter 144
“Oh, I’m sorry –” I dramatically scoffed. “Am I inconveniencing? Then you should have thought about that before pulling something like this!” I know he and I have had very few
boundaries from the very beginning, but this crossed a line.
I remember when he first brought up me applying to the Ivy League Schools.
We were sitting in the library during English, working on a research assignment for college. Aiden, Lucas, Brooke, Caroline and I were all sitting at the same table in the back, while Ms.
Nguyen went from table to table making sure people were actually doing what they were
supposed to instead of online shipping.
“Why isn’t Northwestern on your list?” Aiden asked leaning over to peek at my screen.
“Oh please,” I snorted. “I could never get into a school like that. We don’t all have siblings
that are alumni.”
He glared. “You meet all of the admissions requirements. What’s stopping you from
applying.”
“Her dream school is Stanford.” Caroline piped from next to me. “We went on a campus
tour last summer and she fell in love with it.”
Aiden once again leaned in to look at my list. “Stanford isn’t on your list either.”
“Good job Einstein, you can read.” I snorted. “We all know that college admissions are a hit or miss. Why would I waste my time applying only to be rejected just because my application landed in the miss pile.”
“You have a perfect GPA and one of the highest SAT scores at the school.” Caroline once
again chimed in.
“And?” I challenged. “So do the thousands of other applicants. My resume doesn’t include
the cure to cancer or inventing á microchip to make me standout.”
“Just think about it.” Aiden shrugged finally dropping the subject.
Or so I thought, because if he had actually dropped the subject we wouldn’t be here right
now.
“I get it – you’re mad!” Aiden shouted back exasperated. “But look –” He said pointing to the

large envelopes I was still clutching. “You got in!”
“That’s not the point!” I shot back crossing my arms.
“Yes it is!” He said throwing his arms in the air. “Your whole reasoning for not applying was that it would be a waste of time because you could never get it. But you did!”
“You got in babe.” He took another cautious step towards me, but stopped when I glared at him “I told you any university would be lucky to have someone as hardworking and dedicated to their studies as you are. You can’t tell me that this doesn’t make you even the
tiniest bit happy.”
“Did you just tell me I told you so right now?” I snapped.
“It would probably be best if you just shut up at this point, dude.” Lucas chuckled, as he
continued to watch the scene unfold in front of him.
“Lucas I swear to God –” Aiden growled, shooting daggers in his direction.
“You leave him alone!” I pointed an accusatory finger at Aiden. “Of all the stupid things you could have done this has got to be by far the stupidest one!”
“Babe please, do –” He tried pleading with me, but I wasn’t having any of it.
“YOU CROSSED A LINE AIDEN!” I shook my head at him as I turned to walk out.
“Let’s just talk about it.” I heard his following closely behind me but I kept walking.
“Just give her some time man.” I heard Lucas say. That was the last thing I heard before I slammed the front door shut behind me.
As soon as I stepped foot outside, I was drenched by the downpour coming down. Running to my car, I closed the door just as a loud crack of thunder echoed and a flash of lightening lit up the sky.
