Chapter 152
After maneuvering through downtown traffic, any sense of calm I had previously felt had gone out the window. When I finally pulled into a parking spot in front of a Stan’s Donuts & Coffee, I let out a deep breath. “I swear to god people don’t know how to fucking drive.”
“Like, how do some of these people even have a driver’s license?” I asked exasperated.
Aiden chuckled as he unbuckled his seatbelt. I made a motion to do the same, but Aiden
stopped me. “Just wait here. I’m just picking up the order.”
“Don’t forget my coffee!” I yelled as he slammed the door shut.
If he comes back without my coffee, he’s walking home.
True to his word, Aiden was in and out of the store. When he got back in the car, the first
thing he did was hand me an iced coffee.
Lgreedily took it from him and began sipping – allowing my tastebuds to dance in the strong
and bitter flavor.
“You really have an unhealthy obsession with caffeine.” His eyebrow was quirked and a
small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
“And?” I narrowed my eyes at him, daring him to speak ill of my caffeine addiction again.
“And… just drive us back, Princess.” He sighed. “And don’t forget about Brooke’s pizza.”
About half way back to his house, I reached my arm out to turn down the music blaring
through the speakers. “Thank you for this.” I said, gratitude filling my words. “I know I can be a little… overwhelming and passionate when it comes to school.” I continued shyly as I
allowed him to interlock our fingers.
“A little?” He snorted.
“Don’t push it,” I shot him a glare in waring.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Aiden roll his eyes as he reached across his seat and planted a quick peck on my cheek. “There’s nothing wrong with being passionate.”

Chapter 152
The remainder of the drive back to his house was spent in comfortable silence with a few
words exchanged here and there. When we walked in with Pizza and donuts, Brooke looked like she was actually about to hug Aiden, but settled for a smile instead.
The rest of the night was spent reviewing for history and calculus tomorrow, until we all
fell asleep spread out across Aiden’s bedroom. Aiden was the first to actually fall asleep,
followed by Lucas. While Caroline, Brooke and I stayed awake longer, one by one they too
started to drift off until it was just me who was awake.
I don’t know exactly when I fell asleep, but when I woke up in the morning I was snuggled
into Aiden’s comforted and I didn’t want to get up.
It all comes down to this, I thought as I shifted for the tenth time in the hard and
uncomfortable chair.
Four years of endless lectures and mountains of homework – all so that I can sit in a
classroom crammed with thirty other students just as anxious as I am for Mr. Newman to
pass out the exam booklet and tell us to start.
Glancing across the room at where Aiden was sitting, he flashed me a reassuring smile that
seemed to calm my never ending anxiety just for a moment.
“Alright everyone.” Mr. Newman called everyone’s attention to the front where he was leaning against the teacher’s desk holding the instructions booklet. “I’m going to go over the instructions and then you may begin. You will have just over three hours to complete the exam. There will be a ten minute break after the multiple choice section.”
As Mr. Newman read from the instructions booklet, I focused my attention on the white test
booklet in front of me.
AP World History Exam
“You may begin.”
Here goes nothing,
Now that AP exams were finally over, it felt like I could finally breath again.

Chapter 152
It’s like a dark cloud had been lifted off all the seniors, and even the teachers were smiling more and not assigning us as much homework. There of course were still finals to worry about, but compared to the torturous AP exams, those were a piece of cake.
I was sitting in French class with Caroline while a French movie played on the projector. I think we were watching Emiléfor like the third time this year?
That movie is intense to say the least, and certainly not school appropriate, but Mrs.
Laurent knows best.
While Caroline was taking a nap next to me, I was texting Aiden.
Aiden: I missssssss youuuuuuu
Scarlett: I miss you too, dork!
Aiden: Are you coming to the game tonight? It’s an away game.
Scarlett: Probably. I have nothing better to do lol.
And that was the truth – I didn’t have anything better to do unless I wanted to get started on studying for finals. Since those were still at least three weeks away, there was no way in hell I was opening another textbook until it was absolutely necessary.
Aiden: Come over tonight after the game? My parents are out of town.
Scarlett: Nahhhh.
Aiden: But babeeeeeee.
Scarlett: I’ve got a hot date.
Aiden: Oh yeah? With who this time – Netflix or Hulu?
Scarlett: I will have you know I do other stuff besides watch TV!
