Chapter 156
I’m not a psychic or anything, but I’m willing to bet money that he’s going to propose to her
this weekend.
Anthony had sent me a couple of pictures of rings this past week, asking my opinion on which one I thought mom would like best. When she first introduced me to Anthony, I wasn’t expecting to like him much but he’s proved himself time and time again.
Not only was he extremely sweet to my mom, but he never made me feel left out. Whether it was inviting me out to go to the movies with them or dinner, he made me feel included-
and that was all I could ask for.
As expected, twenty minutes later there was a knock on the door. Unlocking all three locks –
a bit excessive but when you’re an eighteen year old girl alone for the week, you can never
be too careful – I opened the door to find Aiden standing in front of me with a box of
Insomnia Cookies.
“Why didn’t you tell me your mom was out of town again?” He glared, walking past me.
“Hello to you too.” I rolled my eyes, once again locking all three locks.
“Don’t be a smart ass.” He retorted. “I don’t like knowing you’re all alone at home. Anyone
could just break in.”
“No one is going to break in.” I waved him off as I grabbed the small box of cookies out of
his hands and sat down on my bed.
“You’re too careless.” He huffed, nudging me over so that he could lay down next to me and
reached into the box for a cookie
“And you’re too over protective.” I batted his hand away from my cookies.
“Can you blame me?” He snorted, rolling onto his back and folding his hands above his head. “You disappeared without letting anyone know what was going on.”
I was wondering how long it would take him to bring it up.

“I did not disappear!” I defended, breaking off a piece of the chocolate chip cookie and popping it into my mouth.
I was expecting Aiden to continue his lecture, but he was being unusually quiet. Turning my head sideways to look at him, his eyes were already on mine and a small smile played on his lips. “What?” I asked.
“You’ve got chocolate on your chin.” The edge of his lip curled and he started to laugh.
Sexy, I know.
I rolled my eyes and began wiping at my which which only made Aiden laugh harder. “It’s not funny!” I couldn’t help my very own smile as I reached out and smacked his arm.
A crease of amusement framed his face. “Careful Princess, or you’re start something you’ll
have to see through until the end.”
“Oh yeah?” I cocked an eyebrow as I lifted myself off my stomach and placed one knee on
each side of his hips – straddling him. He narrowed his eyes at me as his hands
automatically gripped my waist.
“Something like this?” I continued, bringing my face close to his and planting my lips
against his. As he squeezed my waist, I let out a soft moan. Inadvertently grinding against him, I could feel him smirk which only makes my confidence grow.
Two can play at this game.
Feeling short of breath, I pulled away but continued to plant kisses along his jaw and trail my way down his neck. He brought one hand up and runs it through my hair, stopping at the base of my neck before latching onto a fistful of hair and bringing my head up.
“You just love playing with fire.” His eyes flashed hungrily as he flipped us over so that he
was on top.
“I’m coming!” I shouted as I placed the roll of paper towels and Windex on the coffee table
before making my way to the front door.
It was Thursday night and I was alone mom still had not come back from her trip, and I was bored out of my mind. Since there was no school tomorrow because of Staff
Development day, I figured now was a good time to start cleaning the entire apartment.

Chapter 156
There were a couple of school assignments for me to do, but those could wait until Sunday
night if even then. In the past week, it had become increasingly harder for me to find the motivation to do any of my homework.
What was the point?
I had just finished cleaning the kitchen, and had moved onto the living room when
someone knocked on the door.
Swinging the door open, I half expected to see Aiden, but instead Lucas’s grinning face stared back at me. “Hi Lucas.” I smiled at him. “What are you doing here?”
Judging by the way he was dressed, he had come here straight from practice.
“I’m here to pick you up!” He proudly stated as he gave me a once over. “But from the looks
of it, I should have called first. What the hell are you wearing?”
Glaring, I replied. “These are my cleaning clothes, I will have you know.” I had on a pair of
old maroon Northside sweats from freshman year P.E, an oversized t–shirt and my hair was
tied at the top of my head in a messy bun that was coming apart.
