Chapter 157
Not my best look, but in my defense, I have looked worse before.
“Well – Buttercup,” Lucas said plopping down on the couch. “Go take a shower and pack a
bag.”
“I know you and Aiden are used to just barging in here and demanding we go places, but you’re going to have to be a bit more specific this time.” I folded my arms and cocked an eyebrow at him.
“We’re going away for the weekend.” He rolled his eyes, picking up the remote and turning
on the TV.
“And where are we going?”
“Lake house.”
“Where?”
“Michigan.”
I contemplated his words before I went into my room and began digging through the closet for a duffle bag. “A little heads up would/have been nice.” I mumbled under my breathing.
“What’s the fun in that?” Lucas shouted as I began pulling clothes off the hangers.
Once showered and packed, Lucas drove us to Caroline’s house to pick her up.
“Brooke said she can’t come!” Caroline huffed as she got in the back of Lucas’s Jeep. “Her parents are honestly so ridiculous sometimes!”
“You know her parents are strict, Care.” I turned in my seat to look at her.
“Exams are over! Why can’t they just let her have fun?” She rolled her eyes, leaning forward in her seat so that her head was poking between the seats. Caroline continued to complain about Brooke’s parents the entire time on the way to Aiden’s house, meanwhile Lucas and I nodded and agreed on occasion.

Chapter 157
According to Lucas, it was just going to be the four of us this weekend – Caroline, Lucas,
Aiden and I. And I for one, was actually pretty excited to be going out of town for a bit.
When Lucas pulled into Aiden’s driveway, he was already outside – leaning against the side
of his car. The black paint shone under the rescinding orange sky, the light emitting from
the last rays of sun painting the sky a golden yellow.
As I got out from the passenger’s side, Caroline also stepped out and took my previous seat. Walking towards Aiden, I saw Lucas roll his window down. “Do you still remember how to get there, dude?”
Aiden nodded in reply as he pushed himself off the side of the car and began walking towards me. He took the black duffle bag that was in my hand, and leaned down to peck my lips. “Hey, Princess.”
I hummed in reply, giving him a once over. He was dressed casually, in a pair of navy
basketball shorts and a white fitted t–shirt. His hair was still slightly damp, and his piercing gray eyes were covered by a pair of original wayfarer classic Ray Bands.
“We’ll see you guys there!” Caroline yelled, her head sticking out the window as Lucas pulled out of the driveway. Her not so subtle wink didn’t go unnoticed by me.
“You know, if you want to go upstairs first,” Aiden’s lips brushed against my ear. “I can
make good time on the highway.”
“Oh my god!” I groaned as I shoved his shoulder. “Get in the car.”
“I’m just saying.” He chuckled as he walked around to the driver’s side.
“If you’d like, I could drive.” I smirked as I watched his face fall slightly before he opened
the door and got inside.
That’s what I thought.
Three and a half hours later, Aiden finally pulled into the driveway of a beautiful large lake house. Lucas’s Jeep was already there, and the lights were on in the house.
Half way thought the drive, Lucas had called me to say we needed to stop and get some

food because there likely wasn’t any there. Caroline then texted me a list a mile long of groceries we needed to get, which is why I spent more than an hour at Meijer’s making sure to get everything on the list and scolding Aiden for riding the cart.
At one point, he even got inside the shopping cart and asked me to push him around. I left him in the middle of the cereal aisle and went to find the cake mix because someone had
demanded red–velvet cupcakes.
I’m starting to think Caroline wanted us out of the house for that long so her and Lucas
could get their freak on.
I shuddered at the thought.
She may be my best friend, but I didn’t need to know exactly when she was getting laid. She already shares way too much about her sex life.
Stepping out of the car and stretching out my legs, I took a moment to take in my surroundings. Lucas’s house was right on the beach and pretty secluded from the other houses. Although there was another house to the right, it was all forest to the left. The house itself was large with a total of two stories, and coated in slabs of gray stone.
There was a concrete path leading up to the front door that had plants and stone on either side. Right next to the front door, there was a small front porch that housed two white
chairs and a small table.
Although it was already dark out, lake Michigan was still visible behind the house and
under the bright moonlight.
