Chapter 85
“You know,” I felt him whisper as his lips brush against my car. His body was pressed against mine, sending a shiver down my back. “If you wanted to see me naked that badly, you could’ve just asked.”
Holy hell, what was this boy doing to me.
I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t totally shocked and slightly bothered to see Aiden and Victoria together. With all of the time Aiden and I have been spending together outside of school and practice, I thought that maybe just maybe he was beginning to see me as something other than a
friend.
That dream quickly withered and died today.
But I mean, can you really blame the guy? Victoria was popular, smart, and most importantly gorgeous. Then, there’s me. A moody know–it–all with the attention spam of a five–year old.
Despite being somewhat crushed, I wasn’t about to let Aiden know about it.
“In your dreams.” I managed to croak out as I pushed him off of me and went to pour the cake batter
into the cupcake tray lined with individual cupcake liners.
He just chuckled as he followed me and dipped his index finger into the bowl I was holding. I
watched mesmerized as he slowly lifted his index finger up to his lips and slowly licked off the
batter.
Only he could make that look unnecessarily sexy right now.
I was so focused on his lips, that I didn’t notice I had tilted the bowl and spilled some of the batter on
the kitchen island. Aiden was the first to notice as he took the bowl out of my hands and set it down,
not once breaking eye contact with me.
Once I had snapped out of my trance, I finally got the cupcakes in the oven, cleaned the mess I had
made and began working on the frosting. Aiden spent the entire time watching me as I made myself busy in his kitchen.
He finally broke the silence, “Where did you learn to bake?”
I shrugged in response. “Nowhere really. I kinda just taught myself. My mom worked a lot when I was younger so if I wanted something, I had to learn how to make it. As I got older, it became

therapeutic.”
“Hmm.” Aiden nodded.
As I waited for the timer on the oven to go off, I decided it was my turn to break the awkward silence that had resumed. “Look, I’m really sorry for just barging into your room like that. I had no idea you had company. If I did I would never had come in. Not that it’s okay to come into your room if you don’t have company over because I-”
“Scarlett.” Aiden cut me off with an amused smile. “Don’t worry about it. But next time you try sneaking up on someone, try being quieter. I heard you shuffling in the room when I turned the water off.”
“How?” I exclaimed. Aiden just gave a throaty laugh at my shock.
By the time the cupcakes had cooled down and I had finished frosting them, it was already well after five. Daylight savings also ended last week, which meant it was getting darker out sooner.
I walked out of the kitchen and into the living room to find Ella asleep on the couch with a blanket draped over her, and Aiden watching Game of Thrones.
“The cupcakes are ready.” I half whispered not wanting to wake Ella up. “I’m going to head out now. Just tell her to keep them refrigerated and take them out 10-15 minutes before eating them.”
Standing awkwardly in the entryway to the living room, I watched as Aiden stood up from the sofa and turned off the TV. I gave him a confused look to which he replied, “I’m taking you home, Princess.”
“You don’t h-” I began protesting but he was already past me and out the door. I just sighed as I began to follow him to his car.
He was already waiting for me with the passenger’s door open.
Once Aiden had pulled out of his driveway and started driving towards my apartment, I turned to ask him “Why do you insist on calling me princess?”
I mean honestly, out of all the damn nicknames out there, he just had to pick the girliest and corniest one of them all?
“Because, you have this brave and strong façade for everyone to see, but really that’s all it is. It’s

okay to accept help from others and not do everything on your own. Its okay to let someone take
care of you.” he said softly as he stole a glance at me before returning his attention back on the road. “Plus, it gets this reaction out of you.”
We spent the rest of the car ride in silence. I watched as the cars and lights outside blurred as we drove past them. I was starting to doze off when Aiden pulled in front of my building and set the car in park. “We’re here, princess.”
“Thanks for the ride.” I yawned as I unbuckled my seatbelt. I was about to open the car door when Aiden reached across the seat and grabbed my arm.
I stared at him expectantly. He finally spoke. “Thanks for hanging out with Ella today. I know she can be a handful, but she means well. I know you probably had better things to so, so thank you.”
