Chapter 93
I was about to argue back when Lucas cut me off. “Then its settled!”
“Just let it go, Princess.” Aiden said ushering me towards the passenger side of his car. “They’ll be
fine.”
“If they die on the way there because Caroline kills Lucas, I’m holding you personally responsible.” I stubbornly said as I buckled my seatbelt. Aiden chuckled and shook his head as he made his way
towards the driver’s side.
“Where did you say we were going?” I asked Aiden as I watched the parked cars and buildings zoom
past us. I should honestly start paying more attention because one of these days I will willingly get in the car with a kidnapper and they’re going to take me to an abandoned warehouse and kill me.
“Ice skating.” Aiden stole a quick glance at my reaction before returning his attention back to the
road.
“No way!” I scoffed. “You’re not serious.”
“Dead serious.” He smirked.
Oh this was going to be a very very painful night.
“You don’t understand!” I begged. “I’m going to bust my ass! I haven’t been ice skating in years, and even then I left the rink with more bruises than I can could count. Can we pleaseee do something
else.”
Aiden chuckled in response. “Don’t worry Princess, I’ve got you. My nice arms will be there to catch
you.”
I turned fully in my seat to give him a confused look. “What are you taking about?”
“You don’t remember?” He laughed. “The night of the Halloween party.”
What the hell is he on about. I don’t remember anything from that night other than getting there. “You’re going to have to be more specific.”

“Well.” He smirked. “It was right before you begged me to get you ice cream at 1 am in the morning. You almost tripped and fell face first on the Twister mat, but I helped you balance yourself.”
“If I recall correctly, you said – and I quote – I have reallllyyy nice arms.” Aiden proudly stated.
Oh my god. If I said that to him out loud, what other embarrassing shit came out of my mouth that
night.
“You’re lying!” I gasped. No fucking way.
The mischievous glint in his eyes told me that he was in fact telling the truth. All I could do at this point was cover my face in embarrassment. I made a mental note never to drink again because I clearly cannot be trusted with what comes out of my mouth.
The rest of the car ride was spent trying to hide my embarrassment from Aiden who was hell bent
on making fun of me.
When we finally reached downtown, I stared out the window in awe at all the window displays
decorated for the holidays. Shiny Christmas lights decorated the streets on both sides, giving off an
aura of safety and comfort.
After Aiden finally parked in one of the underground garages, we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. When they all got out of Lucas’s car, Caroline had a pissed off expression on her face and Brooke could barely contain her laughter, meanwhile Lucas looked like a little kid on Christmas
morning. At least everyone was in once piece.
As the seven of us made our way towards Maggie Daily Park, I couldn’t help but smile. Caroline and Brooke have always been the ones that I could count on, and I never thought anyone else would penetrate our little tight knit group this close to the end of high school.
Yet someone, Aiden and Lucas both managed to weasel their way into our friendship and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve never seen Brooke and Caroline laugh as much as they do when these two buffoons are around, and I have to admit I find myself smiling more and being less serious
when I’m around them too.
Passing Millennium Park, the pine sweet smell of the gigantic tree that stood tall and proud in the middle swirled around us. The silver flash of tinsel glittered brightly in combination with the
thousands of little lights that sparkled in the late afternoon sunset.
“This is so pretty!” I yelped as I took in the sight before me. In case you can’t tell, I love Christmas!
“Is she okay?” Cody asked the group. I chose to ignore him and instead focus my attention on the

families gathered around the tree, all trying to get their kids to sit still for a picture. Of course there were the occasional couples as well, taking selfies with the tree in the background. No doubt anxious to post about it on social media.
“Don’t be a dick, dude.” Aiden warned Cody.
“You remember Christmas Scarlett, right?” Caroline asked Brooke. “She’s just like regular Scarlett except it’s as if someone stuffed her full of snowflakes and speed.”
“Yes, yes very funny.” I replied sarcastically. Sure, the pretty lights and decoration certainly make the holiday more enjoyable, but if you ask me, the true spirit of Christmas lay in gathering around with your loved ones and partaking in the traditions.
After Aiden had to drag me away from the tree in Millennium Park, we spent the next hour waiting in line to rent skates. With it being Friday night, and the start of the holiday break for many in the city, it seems everyone else had the same idea on how to spend their Friday night.
