“Cassian?” Tuesday startled sound before quickly covering her mouth and hastily pulling Cassian back into his room. Once inside Cassian’s modest bedroom–barely 105 square feet–Tuesday shut the door firmly. “Cassian, were you eavesdropping on my conversation with Leonard?” she asked at once. 

Tuesday looked at Cassian with visible unease, clearly torn. She had no idea how to begin speaking to him, and was equally afraid that he might have overheard her earlier conversation with Leonard Cherry. They were speaking so loudly, anyone in the hallway could hear them,‘ Cassian thought. 

Cassian finally understood why Tuesday had brought him back to Forreb. But since he was never truly Cassian, he felt no real disappointment in her actions. However, Tuesday and Leonard had miscalculated if they thought they could transplant his heart into Felipe Cherry. 

“Cassian, let me explain-” Tuesday began, an awkward expression flickering across her face as she tried to justify herself.” There’s no need,” Cassian interrupted coldly. “You came to Vyrdenia just to bring me back so that you could give my heart to your son.” 

“Cassian, how could you think that? You’re my son, too!” Tuesday’s eyes brimmed with tears as she shook her head repeatedly, unable to accept his words. 

“How could I ever want to hurt you? But Felipe’s heart condition is severe–hospitals here in Frihamen City can’t treat it. We have no choice but to go to secondary cities, where the specialists might give him a real chance.” 

Given the current standing of the Cherry family, they were in no position to seek out doctors in secondary cities. Resorting to a heart transplant had become their only option out of desperation. 

“You have no choice?” Cassian’s voice grew colder, his words tinged with disdain. He felt a deep sense of injustice on behalf of the original owner, who had once hoped for his mother’s return. Desperation could not justify sacrificing another person’s life, especially when that person was her biological son. 

“I…” Tuesday couldn’t find the words to explain herself to Cassian. After all, he was her biological son, too. She could not possibly be cruel. 

Initially, she had brought Cassian back with the plan to arrange a marriage for him. However, Felipe’s condition had worsened significantly in recent days. Leonard had also discovered from doctors that a heart transplant from a family member would offer a better chance of success, which was why they had turned their focus to Cassian. 

Thanks to the Cherry family, Tuesday had been able to live a comfortable, worry–free life in Forreb. However, despite giving birth to Felipe, her position within the family remained at the very bottom due to her background. She had no real standing to oppose Leonard’s decisions. 

Moreover, the Cherry family had accepted her only because of Felipe. It was thanks to him that she was able to enjoy the comfortable life she had now. If something were to happen to Felipe, she knew that, with her aging appearance and fading charm, it wouldn’t be long before she was cast out of the Cherry family and left wandering the streets. 

“Cassian, I truly have my struggles,” Tuesday said, her face full of sorrow as she looked at him. The guilt and unease she felt caused her voice to drop to a near whisper. 

“So can’t you think about me for once? With the current medical advancements in Forreb, they can implant an artificial heart. As long as your body can accept it, there’s an 80% chance you’ll survive.” 

“Then why don’t you have Felipe get an artificial heart?” Cassian interrupted Tuesday with a sneer. 

Being a Forrebian, he naturally knew about artificial hearts. While Forreb’s medical technology had advanced to the point where they could implant artificial hearts, there were still many side effects. 

People with artificial hearts could not engage in strenuous exercise, and even a slight emotional disturbance could lead to serious risks. As for symptoms like premature beats and arrhythmia, they were commonplace. Additionally, since an artificial heart wasn’t a real human organ, some individuals even experienced rejection reactions. 

While the procedure for artificial hearts had become widespread in Forreb, it was typically only used by ordinary people who couldn’t wait for an organ transplant. Wealthy families, on the other hand, would go to great lengths to bypass the system and secure a transplantable heart for their loved ones. 

Although the Cherry family was considered wealthy in the tertiary cities, their influence was not enough to secure a suitable heart for Felipe before his condition worsened. 

So they set their sights on Cassian. After all, Cassian came from a lower realm, and even if he were to die on the operating table, there would be no significant loss to the Cherry family.

Before returning to the lower realm, Tuesday had investigated Cassian’s background through the black market. She discovered he was a week, cowardly man who relied solely on his family’s wealth. The Lysander family neglected him, pouring all the resources into raising Pierce as their heir 

in her eyes, Cassien was the perfect candidate to donate his heart to Felipe, as it allowed Tuesday to comfort herself without quit. After all, Cassian was incapable of achieving anything significant, and if he could save Felipe, it would at least give his life some purpose. 

But now, Tuesday suddenly realized that Cassian was not as cowardly and inept as she had imagined. When facing him, she felt an unexpected and intangible pressure. “Cassian, please, I beg you, she said, her voice filled with desperation. “Do you think I would be willing?” Cassian’s voice was calm. After all, he wasn’t Tuesday’s real son, so he didn’t react strongly to her despicable actions. 

However, his attitude only sparked a glimmer of hope in Tuesday’s heart. 

“Cassian, your brother is still so young. Please, pity him and give him your heart. Don’t worry–after the transplant, we will take good care of you. I’ll find you a suitable match, someone from a well–matched family, and guarantee your future will be secure. Whatever conditions you have, we will fulfil them.” 

“No need Cassian replied sharply. “If you think there’s a problem with the artificial heart, then why not take your own heart and give it to him?”
