Benson’s voice was loud enough that people nearby at the dock heard his words and turned their attention to Raven. Hearing that Raven was a disciple of George, the staff at the spatial point couldn’t help but be surprised.
They knew that the one and only George was a member of the prestigious Brown family from Deariton, a figure of immense power and influence. Just mentioning his name would command their respect.
However, they quickly shook their heads in disbelief. Such a distinguished persone George’s stature would never take on a disciple from the lower realm.
Two passersby stopped as the crowd shook their heads and glanced toward Raven. These two appeared to be on their way to board the spatial vessel, but they paused right before entering the spatial point, turning to scrutinize Raven. “This young woman is a prized disciple of George Brown?” one of them remarked in surprise.
“That’s impossible. I’ve never heard of Mr. Brown taking on a disciple from the lower realm,” one of the passersby said with a skeptical expression.
“To be clear, the only disciple recognized by Mr. Brown was one person, and they went missing years ago. Many people believe that disciples must have met with an accident, as there has been no trace of them–alive or dead–since then.”
“Mr. Brown cared so much for him and has never given up searching for him. It’s impossible that he would take on another disciple.”
“Hey girl, you better watch your words. No one will argue with you here, but once you get to Forreb, if you dare claim to be Mr. Brown’s disciple again, you’ll be cut down by a thousand blades!” One of the elders shook his head, looking at Raven with disdain and mockery, as if mocking her for overestimating herself.
George held an exceptionally prestigious position in Forreb, and his name was not something anyone could freely discuss. The only reason the elder knew some things that others didn’t was his conversation with someone from the Larsson family. Janelle had once had an opportunity to visit the capital, Deariton. Since then, the family had used her experience as a point of pride, frequently boasting about it in social circles. Through these conversations, the elder had learned many things that were not common knowledge.
He wondered, ‘Someone from a lower realm stood shamelessly claiming to be George’s disciple. Wasn’t this courting death?‘ “It seems like George holds a very high position in Forreb,” Raven asked, her curiosity piqued about her mentor’s standing in Deariton. She deliberately tried to pry a little more from the elderly man. “From how you speak, it sounds like you hold him in great respect.”
“You wretch! How dare you speak the name of Mr. Brown so casually?” The elder’s voice trembled with anger. “Let me clarify: once you get to Forreb, never dare to call Mr. Brown by his name, and certainly don’t boast about being his disciple. If you do, you’ll bring about your door!”
He continued, shaking his head in disbelief. “You don’t know your place. You’re not from Forreb, are you? Forreb isn’t a place that people of your kind can enter freely. You should turn back before you disgrace yourself any further!”
The elder turned to the young man beside him and said, “Brecken, let’s go. There’s no need to waste time on such people.” He continued, “I heard that the higher–ups of the Cloudshadow Sect are in Frihamen City. We must hurry back; maybe we can connect with that esteemed person. After all, it’s the first time in five years that the Cloudshadow Sect has made a move. We must seize this opportunity!”
