Chapter 726
More unbearable than the physical pain from Raven’s strike was the humiliation of being defeated by someone from the lower realm in front of everyone.
What stung even more was that he had just declared his identity with pride and threatened Raven with harsh words in public–he had fully expected to crush her on the spot as a warning to others. Yet in the end, the one humiliated was not her, but him.
Raven looked at him–clearly already stripped of his combat strength, yet still glaring at her as if he wished he could tear her apart–and couldn’t help but ask with a hint of curiosity, “As far as I know, I’ve had no dealings with anyone from the Cloudshadow Sect. Why do you hate me this much?
“I could enter Forreb because I paid the fifty million kryts for the passage and had my communication chip verified by the staff at the Spatial Point. The chip clearly shows my name as the registered user. But you didn’t bother to find out the truth and accused me of illegal entry without any evidence–you even attacked me without verifying anything.
“Does being a member of the Cloudshadow Sect mean you can act without reason or consequence? I’ve just arrived in Forreb and don’t see what I’ve done to deserve such hostility from you. Even if you intend to kill me, I deserve a reason.”
The members of the Cloudshadow Sect were so easily defeated that Raven doubted even their elders could possess any real strength. She initially worried that clashing with them might risk exposing her abilities and attracting unwanted attention, but now, it seemed that concern had been completely unnecessary.
“S–Stop twisting the truth! I won’t allow you to insult the Cloudshadow Sect!” The member had barely recovered when Raven’s words nearly sent him into another frenzy.
“I’m telling you, this isn’t over! You wait–our Cloudshadow Sect elders will come and settle this with you themselves!” Perhaps due to his rage boiling over, he suddenly coughed up another mouthful of blood.
“Sir!”
“Sir, we need to get you to the hospital immediately!” the officers said anxiously.
The Cloudshadow Sect member no longer had the strength to keep up appearances. He could only rest his hand on the staff member’s shoulder and limp his way off the vessel. It wasn’t until his figure disappeared from view that the anxious onlookers finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Immediately, their gazes fell on Raven in unison–some filled with sympathy, others with shock, and even a trace of regret from Benson. He had been looking forward to watching Raven meet a miserable end at the hands of the Cloudshadow Sect, but things had not gone as smoothly as he had anticipated.
But it didn’t matter. Even if Raven could defeat a member of the Cloudshadow Sect, she wouldn’t have the strength to face their elder. In Benson’s eyes, defeating a mere underling wasn’t impressive; the real powerhouses were still to come.
Now, Raven had completely offended the Cloudshadow Sect. It wouldn’t be long before they hunted her down, and perhaps even the sect’s elder would personally take action, tearing Raven apart and making her regret her actions.
“Miss Valor… y–you were too impulsive!” Julio walked over to Raven with lingering fear, saying with concern.
“Although you defeated that member, his rank within the Cloudshadow Sect is not high. He can only be considered one of the lowest–ranking members. Countless people in the Cloudshadow Sect are stronger than he is. Not to mention the elders, even the four great guardians within the sect possess strengths beyond what ordinary people can imagine.”
He continued, “People like him are not taken seriously by the Cloudshadow Sect. He’s just trying to use his affiliation with the Cloudshadow Sect to gain benefits at the immigration point in Forreb. You shouldn’t have fought him or torn the relationship apart, even if he deliberately made things difficult.
“Remember, once you retaliate, you’re making an enemy of the entire Cloudshadow Sect. If this gets to the elders, they
