Chapter 740
Chapter 740
Felipe regarded Raven with undisguised disgust, rolling his eyes before turning to address the sales clerk in a tone dripping with entitlement. “Put those cufflinks on hold for me. Package them. I have a dinner appointment and will return later to complete the purchase.”
Even with his father’s credit card, acquiring such an extravagant item would strain his finances. But soon, he would be meeting the daughter of the Larsson family. Once the marriage was finalized, what couldn’t he afford?
The thought of his imminent rise to prominence inflated his ego like a preening peacock, and he held his chin high, exuding an air of arrogant extravagance.
“However,” he added with a sneer, “I have particular standards. The items I take a fancy to must remain untouched. If some lower–realm trash were to soil them, they’d become worthless in my eyes.”
The clerk, seasoned in assessing customers, recognized that Felipe’s attire didn’t match the financial capacity for such an expensive order. But he had overheard his earlier conversation with Leonard about his wealthy fiancée. If that woman were rich enough, he could certainly foot the bill.
Before such a potentially valuable customer, his professional smile bloomed. “Of course, sir. May I have your number? These cufflinks will be reserved exclusively for you.”
Felipe nodded, already scheming how to manipulate his future wife into covering the cost. “And make sure no stray dogs paw at what’s mine,” he said, casting a pointed glance at Raven.
The clerk simpered in agreement. “Don’t worry. These are our most exquisite pieces–not just anyone can afford them. We would never degrade their value by letting unworthy hands near them.”
“Did you hear that?” Felipe raised his voice deliberately, ensuring Raven caught every word. “These aren’t for the likes of you.” To him, lower–realm women like her–pretty but desperate climbers–were nothing more than dirt beneath his feet, deserving only scorn.
“Father, we should leave. Time is up, and staying here only lowers our status,” With that, Felipe and Leonard strutted out of the store, noses in the air. Raven had no interest in engaging with such boorish behavior. Time was slipping away, and she needed to pick up the gift for Cassian. She placed a card on the counter and repeated firmly, “I’ll take these cufflinks.”
The clerk, who had already retreated to his seat in the lounge, bolted upright in shock. He hurried back to the counter with his eyes wide.
“These cufflinks cost 1.5 million kryts. No discounts, no credit. Are you certain you can afford them?” His voice oozed skepticism. “Moreover, our store doesn’t serve lower–realm customers. You have no right to purchase anything here.”
Her loud proclamation drew the attention of nearby shoppers, who immediately gathered around and formed a curious crowd. At a glance, Raven’s modest attire marked her as an outsider, and the notion of her buying luxury items seemed ludicfous. Murmurs of amusement rippled through the onlookers.
“What’s wrong?” The mall manager, alerted by the gathering crowd, pushed his way into the boutique. “What’s going on? Why are so many people here?”
The clerk said, “Sir, this lower–realm woman is making a scene here, I told her it cost 1.5 million kryts, but she insists on purchasing our most expensive cufflinks.”
He gestured dismissively at Raven. “She’s wasting our time. How could she afford that?”
