Chapter 954
Chapter 954
“Yes, sir!” Timothy didn’t bat an eye at Cassian’s orders. With his usual calm, he waved a hand, signaling his crew to pack up the glittering pile of gifts and haul them out of the room.
No one questioned Cassian’s call. Sure, their boss might’ve been itching to rub Jake’s face in the dirt, but those mid grade elixir tablets? Total overkill for
their needs.
The fat carp in the backyard pond were about to have the feast of their lives.
Jake stood there, jaw practically on the floor, as Timothy’s team marched in and started carting off the elixir tablets. He blinked hard, half–convinced he was seeing things.
‘Is this guy serious?‘ he thought. ‘Those are mid–grade elixir tablets! Who in their right mind would toss thern out like yesterday’s trash?”
‘This reckless fool is about to cost the new leader a fortune.‘ Jake couldn’t wait to see how Cassian would explain this to her. The guy was digging his own
grave.
Fuming but smirking, Jake didn’t lift a finger to stop him. ‘Let this cocky idiot crash and burn.‘
“Pfft, you’re done for, pal,” he sneered, crossing his arms. “When I spill this to Lady Valor, you’re gonna wish you’d never pulled this stunt. Better start praying!”
Just as Jake was savoring the thought of Cassian’s downfall, Raven swept into the room.
“Lady Valor!” Timothy spun around, dropping into a respectful bow the second he saw her.
Raven was a vision, as always. Her simple white cotton dress hugged her frame, and her long, wavy hair cascaded down like a silken sea. That face–god, it could stop hearts–needed no makeup to stun the room into silence.
Jake’s bravado faltered as he caught her gaze. Those cold, piercing eyes locked onto him, and he quickly ducked his head, heart pounding.
“Hey, uh, my lady,” Jake said, clearing his throat, “I’m Jake Robinett, from the Robinett family. My dad heard you just rolled into Forlunda City and sent me to, y’know, show you the ropes. Give you the grand tour of the city and all its vibes.”
“But, uh…” He faltered, then pivoted fast, throwing a salty glance at Cassian before turning to Raven with a dramatic huff, “Can you believe this guy?
“He’s out here telling Timothy to take a freaking elixir tablet–like, the super rare kind–and feed it to the carp in the backyard! Carp! Fish food, seriously?”
“That’s an Intermediate Elixir Tablet,” he went on, voice dripping with indignation. “Everyone in Forlunda City would kill for one. And this dude’s acting like it’s chump change. No way he’s got the brains to handle your day–to–day, my lady.”
He leaned in closer, lowering his voice like he was spilling tea. “I get it, maybe Mr. Lysander’s not thrilled I’m here, but come on, trashing something this valuable just to one–up me? That’s low.
“Those tablets are handpicked by the family heads–priceless, every single one. How’s he gonna run your manor if he’s this reckless?”
Jake figured his little rant would rattle Cassian, maybe get him sweating. But Cassian just stood there, cool as a cucumber, not flicker of panic in sight.
‘What a clown,‘ Cassian thought, smirking to himself. ‘Doesn’t even realize he’s screwed up big time.‘
Raven tilted her head, her voice calm but curious. “Priceless treasures, you say?”
“Yeah!” Jake jumped in, barely hiding the gleam in his eyes. “The big families sent over Intermediate Elixir Tablets, plus diamonds and jewelry that’d make your jaw drop.
“All to honor the new lady–you. Those tablets? Crazy rare in Forlunda City.”

He leaned in, all earnest–like. “For martial artists trying to level up, one of those bad boys can cut their breakthrough time by a whole week if you’re le super gifted, you could even jump a full level.
“And Mr. Lysander wants to toss them to the fish? That’s straight–up wild.”
He crossed his arms, puffing up with righteous vibes. “Look, my lady, I’m just an outsider, but I can’t sit here and watch this. Mr. Lysander’s gonna tanık your resources. If you took those tablets, you’d be powering up in no time.
“I’m not saying he’s clueless–or, you know, sabotaging you–but who knows?”
Jake bit back a grin, waiting for the drama to unfold. He could practically taste it: Raven figuring out Cassian’s “mistake,” laying into him, maybe even kicking him to the curb.
Then he’d swoop in, the perfect sidekick, ready to cozy up to Raven.
But he was wrong.
