Timothy let out a heavy sigh, his chest tight with understanding. Raven was making this call for the folks still holding the fort at Cloudshadow Sect.
Forlunda City’s factions knew better than to mess with the sect’s near–mythical power.
But if word got out that Raven was off at the Selection Event, well, it wasn’t hard to imagine some opportunists sniffing around, ready to stir up trouble while she was gone.
Timothy cleared his throat, his voice smooth but firm. “Our lord won’t be joining the selection event, I’m afraid. But don’t worry–we’ll make sure she hears about your, uh, admiration later.”
Troy, standing front and center, couldn’t hide his grin. Jackpot. He nodded like a bobblehead and leaned in. “Much obliged, sir. If you could put in a good word for us with the new lady, I’d owe you one.
“Oh, and the event’s about to kick off–let me show you to the judges‘ seats. By the way, if you’re recruiting, you know I’m your guy, right?”
“Yo, me too!” piped up another voice from the crowd.
“Count me in!”
For a shot at the legendary special elixir tablet, these family heads were tossing pride out the window, practically begging to join the new lady’s crew.
Even the event organizers‘ bigwigs were eyeing the executives like kids staring at candy, itching to snag a few of those precious tablets.
Of course, nobody dared make a move. The executives‘ strength was a mystery, and their heavyweight backing made them untouchable.
So, despite the drooling, the organizers played nice, treating them like VIPs.
“Are those the new lord’s top dogs?” someone whispered.
Curious, they craned his neck, sizing up the executives lounging in the judges‘ panel.
A few clueless spectators nearby were just as nosy. “Who’re those old dudes?” someone muttered to no one in particular. “Why’s everyone kissing up to
them?”
“Keep it down, dude!” hissed another, glancing around nervously. “That’s the new lord of Forlunda City and her crew!”
“The new lord?” someone gasped. “You mean the woman who runs all factions in Forlunda?”
“Yup, that’s her,” the guy nodded, lowering his voice even more. “Word is, her power’s off the charts. And get this–she took a Rejuvenation Pill. Looks like a freaking teenager now. No joke!”
“No way,” a skeptic chimed in. “A teenage girl running that many factions? In, what, a few years? Gotta be the pill. I heard she’s got some next–level alchemy skills, whipping up Rejuvenation Pills like it’s nothing.”
Another voice piped up, “Bet it’s true. I mean, how else do you explain it? They say she’s got a special–grade elixir formula. Her whole organization gets a stash of those pills every month, no matter who you are.”
“Special–grade elixir tablets?” someone whistled. “Man, I’ve never even seen one of those!”
The gossip spread like wildfire, each person piling on wilder rumors.
Some were practically worshipping this new lord like she was a goddess. The more they talked, the crazier the stories got.
Those who’d never heard of her were hooked, dying to know more about this enigma.
A woman with that kind of power–ruling Forlunda City’s factions, tossing out rare elixirs like candy, and looking forever young? To the people of

Forlunda, she was untouchable, a legend.
No wonder the big–shot families were kissing up to her lackeys. Everyone would ditch their pride for a shot at those elixirs.
If it meant getting in with her crew, they’d be tripping over themselves to bow down.
