That night, Evelyn cried and held onto Ethan, her voice choked up: “Didn’t you promise to wait for me until I come of age? I’m just one hour away from being an adult, Uncle, just one hour, please don’t get engaged to her, okay?”
She cried her heart out, but couldn’t soften his heart. He coldly pried her hands off him, his voice icy, “I never promised you anything, and besides, no matter how old you are, I will never like you. I will only be your uncle.”
