“How could you hit me?”
Sophie lost her wits after being slapped twice. She fell limply to the ground and yelled as her emotions got out of control.
Stella blew on her reddened palm as she threw a nonchalant glance at Sophie.
“One slap was for you hitting me with the car. The other slap is me returning you slapping me
last time. Is that so hard to understand?”
The look in Eric’s eyes froze when he heard Stella’s words.
When he looked down at the woman on the floor again, the emotions in his eyes sent a chill down Sophie’s spine.
There was no anger in his eyes nor any tinge of disdain. He was looking at her like she was
an ant.
Sophie felt her head go numb. It was the first time she had ever felt so close to death.
Just as she was close to breaking down, the housekeeper returned with Noel, who was mostly sober now.
He spotted Stella right away and stumbled over as he ran. He tried to grab her hand.
However, Eric smacked his hand away.
Noel was brought up in a pampered environment and was about to lose his temper. However, when he looked up to see a familiar face, his annoyance turned into fear.
“U–Uncle Eric.”
Eric rarely enforced his seniority when dealing with Noel, as he was close to his age.
However, he was in a terrible mood right now and did not hold back with Noel. He berated Noel right in front of the help.
“Noel Chilton, did you come to my house in a drunken stupor? How dare you bring along that wretch with a snake’s tongue? Are you forgetting what I told you before? The Chiltons won’t indulge alcoholics.”
The atmosphere in the villa froze from his words.
No one dared to even breathe. Everyone shrunk as they tried to be invisible. None of them wanted to anger Eric.

Stella was the only exception.
It was the first time she had seen Eric so angry.
She was a little astonished as it was also the first time she had seen Noel, who had always done whatever he wanted, act so obediently.
Everything had its weaknesses.
Now that someone had Stella’s back, she no longer tolerated things. She decided to make things clear.
“Noel, you have to call me ‘Aunt Stella‘ from now onward, which is why I’ll be straight with you. I don’t want to be involved in whatever love story is going on between you and Sophie. It has nothing to do with me whether you’re together or you’ve broken up. Don’t show your face to me again if there’s nothing important.
“I have a family now, and I’m also your elder. I hope that you’ll show me basic respect if we see each other in the future. I’m not asking you to obey everything I say, but you should at least have appropriate manners. That’s the only way to avoid the public criticizing the Chiltons for not teaching their son well. Am I right?”
Noel’s veins throbbed angrily at her words.
He was about to retort when he heard a voice that put fear in his heart.
“Do you understand?”
“I–I do.”
Eric watched as Noel lowered his head in apology. He was getting tired, so he led Stella back to the room after leaving his last remark, “What are you waiting for if you already understand? Do you need me to call your father to take you home?”
Noel did not dare to stay any longer. He dragged Sophie and headed downstairs to escape.
Silence returned to the villa.
Stella yawned. She had just climbed into bed when Eric pulled her into his arms.
“What did you mean by the accident? What’s with the wound on your forehead? Tell me about
it.”
Stella did not want him to worry and wanted to avoid going into the details.
“It’s fine. It’s over now. Look, I’m healthy, aren’t I…”
Eric picked up his cell to contact the hospital to arrange a check–up while frowning and

“You’re hurt. It’s not fine.”
Stella sniffled and wanted to cry again when she heard the worry and concern in his voice.
However, she held back her tears and told Eric everything that happened during this time.
“I really wanted to clear things up with Noel after the marriage alliance was confirmed.”
