Chapter 17
Old Mr. Chilton trusted Eric and left with Stella’s parents.
The remaining Chilton family members stayed in the living room.
Eric sat in the main chair and looked down at the three people kneeling on the ground. There
was no emotion in his voice.
“I remember you having a sharp tongue, Sophie Taylor. Why don’t you explain what’s happening to me on behalf of your family?”
Sophie was filled with fear when facing the head of the Chiltons, who struck fear in everyone’s heart.
However, she was also aware that this was her only chance with so many people around.
Sophie wiped away her tears and told Eric everything while still kneeling on the ground.
The Chiltons were speechless after listening to her. Even the bodyguards at the door and the other domestic helpers had no idea how to react.
This was the 21st century. It was a mere issue of being fired. It was not like they were not able to find another job. Why would they blow things up like this?
Was this even necessary?
Eric was the only one who remained stoic throughout.
He asked his elder brother and sister–in–law over and got them to bring their domestic help over to the old mansion.
Eric began asking their domestic helpers their thoughts on firing the Taylors in front of
everyone.
When he brought this up, the silent help suddenly began to give their honest opinions.
“I think Madam made the right decision. Sophie Taylor has been throwing her weight around in the house because Mr. Noel likes her. She even went as far as to take Madam’s clothes and accessories. She threatened us to stay quiet and told us to tell Madam that Mr. Noel took them or spoiled them if she ever asked about it.”
“Firing them is the right move. Mrs. Taylor is always bragging about how her daughter is about to climb the social ladder. She gives all her work to us and does nothing every day.”
“Mr. Taylor is exactly the same. He steals the gifts brought over by guests and when he is caught, he would say Mr. Noel allowed him to take them. This has happened many times!”

The Taylors‘ faces turned extremely pale as they listened to all the accusations.
Noel was about to go crazy with anxiety, but the expression on his face changed after listening to them.
The other Chiltons were either mad about what they had done or were staring at them sternly. No one showed pity for those three people.
Stella had been watching this quietly. She took a few sips of tea, and a cold look flashed across her eyes.
This happened in her past life too.
However, it was before she got married, and Eric had been out of the country.
Noel did not stand by her side but barged into the old mansion with the Taylors.
Old Mr. Chilton’s heart softened after listening to the Taylors crying. He berated Noel’s parents.
Even though Noel’s parents apologized, they found a new reason to kick out the Taylors not long after they returned home.
They even forced the Taylors to compensate for their losses, which caused the Taylors to end up in debt with loan sharks.
With nowhere left to go, the Taylors had no choice but to marry Sophie to their debtor. Her husband died in their third year of marriage.
That was when Stella’s fate changed drastically.
She chose another man to marry after she was reborn, and that changed her life story tremendously.
Under the same circumstances, she believed things would be different with Eric in charge.
It was just as she had expected.
After Noel’s parents clarified the situation with everyone, Eric announced the results.
“I believe everyone here heard the statements. The evidence must be in the Taylors‘ home. Judging from this situation, I think you should call the police and report a robbery in your house. You should get your property back and demand compensation. What do you think?”
It was like a wake–up call to Noel’s parents.
They quickly got someone to contact the police.

Sophie’s parents knew how expensive the items they stole or damaged were worth, and they went out of their minds. They bowed and begged for mercy.
Noel’s parents ‘did not relent after being humiliated by their actions.
When Sophie heard the police siren, she moved over to Noel on her knees and begged him with tears flowing down her face.
However, Noel could not find it in his heart to show them pity after witnessing everything.
The way he looked at Sophie was no longer tender.
“Things have escalated. It’s better if…”
The words got stuck in his throat.
He watched in disbelief as Sophie’s father dashed into the kitchen to grab a knife. He sliced his throat to commit suicide. Noel’s eyes widened.
“Dad!”
Sophie had just stopped crying hysterically when her mother sliced her own throat as well.
“Mom!”
Bright, red blood splashed onto the marble floor.
It kept on dripping.
