Arya and Winnie were immediately dispatched to the geriatrics ward.
As soon as they stepped into the lobby of the geriatrics department, a strong smell of urine and the unique odor of the elderly assaulted their sense Even with masks on, the smell was unmistakable.
Winnie immediately wrinkled her nose. “What is this smell?”
Arya, however, walked straight ahead without even a flicker in her eyes, completely unfazed.
Seeing Arya’s indifference, Winnie rolled her eyes. ‘You’re putting on a brave face now. Wait until you have to clean up after him; let’s see how calm you’l be,’ she thought.
Soon, the head nurse of the geriatrics department came to greet them, leading them through the wards with heavy odors and then down a long corridor to a room at the end.
She turned to Arya and Winnie with a look of sympathy. “Ladies, the patient in this room is Albert Briggs. He has had gout for many years and comes to our hospital every year for a stay. He has a very bad temper, so you two must be very careful not to upset him.”
Arya’s eyebrows lifted slightly. She hadn’t expected that the person who had specifically requested her care would be Albert.
The Briggs family was one of the five major families in Flodes City, with their business interests spread all over the country. They were a prominent presence not only in Flodes City but also throughout the entire Valen region.
However, Arya had never been close to the Briggs family and had never even met Albert. She wondered why he had specifically requested her care.
Winnie’s eyes lit up. ‘One of the five major families in Flodes City, the Briggs family? If I can use this opportunity to get in touch with Mr. Briggs and gain his approval, maybe I could get closer to the Briggs family heir, Russell,‘ she thought.
With this possibility in mind, she immediately smiled and said, “Rest assured, we will take good care of Mr. Briggs.”
Arya immediately saw through Winnie’s little scheme, but she remained calm and said nothing, as if it had nothing to do with her.
The head nurse couldn’t help but glance at Winnie with a look of disdain and sympathy.
Albert was known for his eccentric and irritable temper, which had already caused several nurses and caregivers to cry.
The nurses were now afraid to enter Albert’s room. ‘This intern doctor seems quite cheerful. She hasn’t experienced the difficulties yet,‘ she thought.
However, she didn’t say much more and just reminded them, “Mr. Briggs needs to take his medicine at ten o’clock sharp. It’s time now, so you should go in quickly.” With that, the head nurse left.
Winnie, fearing that Arya would steal her thunder, was the first to push open the door and walk in, sweetly calling out, “Mr. Briggs, I’m the doctor here to take care of you. My name is Winnie, and I’m very happy-”
Before she could finish her sentence, a remote control/suddenly flew through the air and hit Winnie squarely on the nose, causing her to gasp in pain.
Then an angry voice boomed, “It’s already ten o’clock, and you still haven’t come to give me my medicine. What kind of service is this at your hospital?”
Winnie looked up and saw the elderly man in the bed, his head full of white hair.
He looked to be in his seventies, with a face full of wrinkles and a yellowish–brown complexion. Despite his age, he still had a strong, masculine presence, evident from his youthful vigor.
But at that moment, the old man glared at her with a stern look, his eyes sharp like daggers, clearly indicating that he was not an easy patient to handle.
Winnie was immediately intimidated and took a step back.

Just then, Arya walked in, and Winnie quickly retreated behind her, trying to shirk responsibility. “Mr. Briggs, Dr. Keller is the one the hospital hau take care of you.”
Then, Winnie made up an excuse to leave. “I’m sorry, Arya, but I’m feeling a bit unwell. I need to use the restroom.
Without waiting for Arya’s response, Winnie hurriedly left.
Winnie had thought that taking care of Albert would give her a chance to get close to Russell, but she hadn’t expected Albert to be such a lunatic Whoever ends up taking care of him is doomed,‘ she thought. ‘Let Arya be the one to suffer.‘
Arya didn’t mind Winnie’s departure. In fact, she had never considered Winnie a real competitor.
Her indifferent gaze fell on the elderly man with white hair lying on the bed, her eyes calm and untroubled, showing no sign of disturbance.
As Arya looked at Albert, Albert also looked back at her. ‘So this is the girl Colin talked about, the one who bullied Malcolm at the Norrian Club and seduced Finn, he thought.
‘She looks quite innocent and young, but her heart seems a bit cold. Since that’s the case, I’ll help my old comrade Colin teach this girl a lesson and take her down a peg or two.
With that thought, he grabbed the kettle from the bedside table and threw it straight at Arya.
In the moment the kettle flew toward her, Arya simply raised her hand slightly and caught it steadily in her palm.
Then she looked at the elderly man on the bed with a faint expression. “Mr. Briggs, what have we done wrong to make you so angry?”
She immediately sensed the strong hostility Albert felt toward her. But she had just met Albert for the first time. Clearly, someone had spoken ill of her to
him.
Albert hadn’t expected Arya to have such good reflexes. He had thought she would get a big bump on her head from the kettle.
But soon, Albert’s face tensed up, his eyes like storm clouds with lightning. “It’s already been three minutes past the time I should have taken my medicine. If anything happens to my health, can you take responsibility?”
“If you trust me, Mr. Briggs, I don’t need the medicine to cure your gout,” Arya said, her pretty face showing no sign of displeasure.
She walked briskly to the bedside and gently picked up the bottle of medicine on the bedside table.
This was a common gout treatment available on the market. It could temporarily relieve the patient’s symptoms, but it was only a temporary fix, not a
cure.
Albert was taken aback. ‘What did she just say? She wants to cure my gout? Is she joking? I’ve had gout for over twenty years.
‘I’ve seen experts from all over the world, but none of them could do more than provide temporary relief.‘
Arya’s bold claim to cure his gout was nothing short of a joke to him.
He sneered, “Just a little intern doctor, and you dare to make such outrageous claims about curing my gout. Do you think you’re the legendary Lexie?”
