Albert had heard the name Lexie from a highly respected old professor in the medical field.
This professor, with over twenty years of medical experience, was a well–known physician but still couldn’t cure Albert’s gout.
So Albert asked the professor if his gout was incurable.
The professor told him about a legendary doctor named Lexie, who could cure all sorts of difficult and complicated diseases, even saving patients in the late stages of cancer. Lexie was said to have the ability to bring patients back from the brink of death.
However, Lexie was very mysterious and had been off the radar for the past five years.
Russell had been investigating Lexie’s whereabouts but had found nothing.
Now, Albert even thought that the name Lexie might be a fabrication, and there was no such doctor in the world.
Arya’s claim to cure his gout, which had plagued him for over twenty years, seemed like a joke to him.
Thinking of this, Albert’s gaze toward Arya grew even more disgusted. ‘She’s just a swindler, no wonder Colin doesn’t like her,‘ he thought.
However, Arya smiled gently, her pretty face showing no sign of fear. “Mr. Briggs, over these twenty years, you must have seen quite a few doctors. Has any doctor ever told you that your gout is not caused by consuming foods high in purines?”
Albert was completely shocked.
For years, doctors had diagnosed his gout as being caused by excessive intake of foods with high purine content, but Arya claimed otherwise. ‘Without any examination, she dares to make such a bold statement?‘ he thought.
At that moment, she threw the bottle of medicine in her hand directly into the trash can and said lazily, “So taking these medicines not only won’t help your condition but will actually make it worse.”
Albert watched in disbelief as Arya discarded his medicine and roared in anger, “Colin was right, you are indeed an ill–mannered girl.”
Arya’s eyes narrowed slightly.
She thought to herself, ‘So it was Colin who spoke ill of me to Albert. No wonder Albert insisted on having me transferred to the geriatrics department to take care of him.
‘He must be trying to get back at me for Colin. That makes sense.‘
Just then, the door to the ward was pushed open from the outside, and a gentle voice asked, “Mr. Briggs, what’s wrong?”
Arya turned to see Evelyn, dressed in a white coat, walking in.
Evelyn was also an intern at Flodes Hospital, but while Arya had been interning in neurology, Evelyn had been in the traditional medicine department. The two had no interaction before.
“Evelyn,” Albert said angrily upon seeing her. “Call the dean over right away. Arya just threw my medicine into the trash. This person with no medical ethics doesn’t deserve to be a doctor.”
Evelyn looked surprised. She had just learned that Arya had been assigned to take care of Albert and had been thinking of ways to embarrass Arya, but it seemed Arya had done it to herself.
So she immediately turned to Arya and asked gently, “Arya, how could you just throw Mr. Briggs‘ medicine into the trash?”
It has to be said that Evelyn was sweet–looking and spoke very gently. Even though she had lived in a poor area for sixteen years before being taken in by the White family, she quickly adapted to her new family and reclaimed her position as the legitimate daughter.

Not only that, but she was also good at winning people’s hearts. In just a few years, she had gained the favor of many elders in high code Albert.
Albert liked Evelyn because a year ago, at his birthday party, he had suddenly fainted, and Evelyn had saved him using traditional medicine methods.
Since then, Albert had taken a liking to Evelyn and even wanted Russell to marry her.
Unfortunately, Russell said Evelyn was hypocritical and refused to have any contact with her.
Albert could only let it go.
Arya casually glanced at Evelyn. “Those medicines won’t cure Mr. Briggs‘ illness.”
Her tone was languid and indifferent, and she exuded an undeniable queen–like aura, which made Evelyn somewhat annoyed.
Ever since Arya had accompanied Finn to the Norrian Club hotel to see her and ruined her chance to be Finn’s savior, Evelyn had harbored strong hostility toward Arya.
Now that Arya had thrown away Albert’s medicine, Evelyn naturally wanted to take this opportunity to denigrate Arya in front of Albert.
So Evelyn innocently retorted, “Those medicines were specially prescribed for Mr. Briggs by the head of the rheumatology and immunology department. How can you say they’re useless? Aren’t you questioning him?”
Then she turned to Albert and said in a very graceful manner, “Mr. Briggs, don’t be angry..Arya is an intern in neurology and doesn’t have clinical experience. She doesn’t understand other medical fields very well. Please don’t be angry with her.
“I’ve recently developed a herbal ointment that can treat gout. If you don’t mind, let me treat you?”
On the surface, it seemed like Evelyn was trying to smooth things over for Arya, but in reality, she was implying that Arya was just an intern who didn’t understand anything.
Evelyn was different; she could independently develop herbs.
Arya, who couldn’t make a proper appearance, couldn’t compare to her.
Albert immediately smiled. “Alright, when can you treat me?”
Ever since Evelyn had saved him from a coma using traditional medicine at the banquet, he had taken a liking to her.
Unfortunately, his eldest grandson, Russell, had no interest in Evelyn; otherwise, he would have insisted that Evelyn marry Russell.
“Mr. Briggs, if you are willing, I can treat you right now,” Evelyn said, as if she didn’t see Arya’s existence, as always, considerate and kind.
“Thank you, Evelyn,” Albert said with a benevolent smile, looking completely different from the angry old man he had been moments ago.
Arya quietly observed the interaction between Evelyn and Albert Briggs without interrupting.
But at this moment, Arya was certain that Albert was not as difficult to deal with as rumored.
As for why he harbored such strong hostility toward her, it must have been Colin’s doing.
However, Arya was curious about what kind of herbal medicine Evelyn had developed that could cure Albert’s gout.
So Arya stood by with her arms crossed, quietly watching the show.
Evelyn quickly took out the prepared herbal ointment from her pocket and said with a smile, “Mr. Briggs, this is the traditional medicine I specially prepared for your gout, Just apply these herbs to your leg, and your leg will surely recover in a while.”
