Wow! The Brown family’s second son was single again.
A group of wealthy young men organized a “bachelor party,” drinking themselves senseless at a
Karaoke club.
They were drunk in a row.
Sometime later, someone groggily checked their phone.
“Holy shit! Big news!”
The shout woke several others.
“That untouchable CEO of Reed Enterprises is actually in Bay City!”
“Flew back on a private jet overnight!”
Someone hazily waved a dismissive hand.
“No way. Isn’t he supposed to be recovering abroad? No one’s seen him for like ten years.”
“It’s true! It’s trending!”
The phone was passed around.
The dying atmosphere revived.
“It really is him! He’s even holding a woman! They say he flew back overnight to take her abroad!”
“Wow! Their PR team didn’t even have time to spin this. How urgent was this?”
“Let me see!”
“Hmm… that woman… doesn’t she look familiar…?”
“Ryan, Ryan!” Someone shook him. “Doesn’t this woman in Ethan Reed’s arms look like… your wife?”
Ryan had actually been awake for a while.

But he disliked gossip about the Reed family.
“How could it be my wife?” he said irritably, taking the phone. “My wife doesn’t even dare leave Bay City, let alone go abroad…“
But… who would have guessed? Just one glance at the photo and then, he froze.
Rain poured at the airport.
Under a black umbrella, a tall man with stern features held a woman protectively, shielding her completely.
But Ryan knew Sophie too well.
Her silhouette, her hair color…
IMPOSSIBLE!
Ryan threw down the phone with a clatter.
How could Sophie possibly know Ethan Keed?
She was supposed to meet him at her apartment tonight.
Probably missing hm desperately after three months apart.
Ryan took a cigarette from has case.
Then lit it.
Pulled out his own phone.
Found Sophie’s number, about to dial
Noticed the time on his phone–three AM.
Forget it… She’d be sleeping at this hour.
However….
No matter what time, Sophie would always answer his calls.

Ryan illuminated his phone again.
Dialed.
“The number you have dialed is no longer in service.”
After the car accident, I never left Bay City.
All forms of transportation terrified me.
Going to a completely unfamiliar place would make me even more anxious.
I sat beside Ethan, nervously fidgeting with my hands.
He was so tall.
Even sitting in the back seat, he was still a head taller than me.
He looked very serious.
When the driver spoke to him, he responded with just a word or two.
He seemed to be some kind of celebrity.
Earlier at the Bay City airport, reporters had surrounded us completely.
Calling him “Mr. Reed” repeatedly.
Had I been… impulsive?
I only learned the name “Ethan Reed” after our first phone call.
And… Paris was a city I’d never dared to even dream about before.
The person beside me suddenly moved.
He took something from his pocket and handed it to me.
“Want one?”

A candy–the package had a pink bunny printed on it.
My memory immediately flashed back to two years ago, when I persistently tried to talk to “her.”
“Hey girl, do you like candy?”
“I found this amazing candy recently!”
“It’s chewy and soft with a lovely peach flavor!”
“If you want some, give me your address and I’ll send you a jar?”
“She” replied with an English address.
That was the first time “she” responded to me.
The unfamiliarity suddenly dissipated.
This bunny candy–I’d spent ages looking for it back then.
I searched based on the profile picture, wanting to cheer up this reclusive “girl.”
“Want me to unwrap it for you?”
He didn’t seem so unapproachable after all.
His voice was gentle, his eyes soft with a tender light.
Before I could nod, he had already skillfully removed the wrapper.
I took the candy and put it in my mouth.
The familiar taste spread from my tongue.
Every pore in my body relaxed.
Somehow I managed to stay in a completely unfamiliar place.
Ethan arranged for me to stay in his apartment.
But he seemed very busy, rarely home.

After adjusting to the time difference, during the first week, he had one conversation with me.
“Sophie, what kind of work would you like to do?”
The question caught me off guard.
Ryan never allowed me to work outside the home.
“You get nervous and can’t speak clearly–what kind of job could you do?”
“Be good, just stay home growing flowers and plants. It’s not like you need the money,”
But Ethan just sipped his coffee and said:
“Your language lessons haven’t started yet, but Paris has many speakers.”
1 fidgeted nervously,
“Can I… really do it?”
Ethan raised an eyebrow. “How will you know if you don’t try?”
Then I actually found a job–teaching.
It was just an ordinary “tutor” position, but I actually felt a real happiness for once.
I was so happy I wanted to share with the few good friends I had that maybe I wasn’t so useless after
all.
As soon as I logged into Facebook, messages flooded in like snowflakes.
[Sophie? Where are you? Ryan’s going crazy looking for you!!]
